yes you will able to watch local Netflix offering.
India got pretty decent netflix https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies2/wave.gif
or use vpn and see US netflix but it needs tweekinghttps://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...ies2/peace.gif
In my experience, neither Amazon Prime nor Netflix works on VPN, at least with Private internet access. Not sure if they will with any other VPN providers as both Netflix and Amazon prime has different content and pricing model at least with India Vs US.

This isn't great for someone sharing a prime membership and doesn't have access to prime videos right?
It depends. If you completely rely on Amazon eco system for all your online entertainment needs, you are right, this stick wont be of much use without the prime videos subscription. However, this stick still supports lot of other streaming providers like Netflix, DirectTV, Hulu, Pluto (Free) etc. Not to forget, this stick also supports the local content player via wifi where you can access your SMB based network shares or UPNP/DLNA shares remotely within the same network. If you are into sideloading you still can put this stick into lot more use. I only wish this stick comes with a dongle to add to a USB receiver for wifi keyboard, external Hard disks etc

I really wish they would put the remote on sale. I would like a few extra for my 4k sticks but the remote by itself is $29.99. That is expensive. That's the cost of the non 4k version of this stick on sale right now.

If I already have a Roku 4K & Chromecast 4K, then this is only needed if I wanted to be a criminal and watch everything for FREE right?
You would want this if you wanted its features and the Amazon Eco System..

Just because you own a car is it for mowing down people? Why would you need a car to go so fast you could injure yourself or others?

If you own a gun is it for robbery or killing folks?

I hate this kind of talk that the only reason for a fire device is for piracy. It is like just owning or promoting makes you guilty of a imaginary crime.

I hate chromcast, Android TV, and the roku is seems like it is for kids and is locked down..

Nothing is perfect but options are ways to drive development.. It seems the Fire ecosystem is alive and not locked down.

I had the same issue of wanting to add a flash drive etc. So I tried a fairly cheap cord on Amazon (auvipal was the brandand it was a 2 pack for around $8) and it has worked well with all my firesticks. Don't know if attaching link will work. It is even able to power the pendant fire from the TV usb port.

Avoid the cube. The 4K stick is more powerful and noticeably quicker. I have both.
I just wish the 4k stick had 16gb of storage like the cube! I don't have room to install all of the jackbox games, plus kodi.

First time I heard about the trade in process. Kind of lame you don't get anything for it just 20% off
Not lame because they accept broken devices as well.

Does this have the HBO GO app? Turns out our Sony TV does not have that app, and PS3 stopped supporting it earlier this year. I am hoping to get a stick and use it on the tv. Wifey needs to watch GOT. Got to make her happy. worship

I already have a chromecast and roku that work great, so no need for this unless I did want it to steal all the content like most of you do.. I never said that's the ONLY thing it's good for, but it is the reason most of you get it though.. geesh nice rant. laugh out loud

thanks. I find the US Amazon Prime to have quite a good selection of South indian movies. I've tried the vpn thingy, even updated it at the server level, but Netflix is smart to recognize it. I have yet to try it with Amazon prime though. Curious if anyone knows of any workarounds or have recommendations on which vpn service to go with.
Plenty of vpn providers work like Nord and Torguard if you buy an ip. There are also others that I won't expose but those providers are the cheapest and you can routinely find a deal for them.

Does this price not stack with the 20% off? I submitted an old fire stick and got confirmation email but it's not stacking.
