Windows 8.1 isn't bad. You only need to install a start menu app and it works just like Windows 7. I won't dual boot Windows 10. When the telemetry updates hit 8.1 I didn't know about them. I did notice my HDD waking up several times a day and my firewall was uploading data. I finally looked into it and two MS processes were waking up my data drives and sending data to Singapore. That's not ok in my world so I uninstall the updates. I know most of it can be shut off in 7, 8 and 10 but not all of it.

Having an extra account would be handy. I had close to 20,000 points when I saw this deal. It seems like I'm always short by 2000-3000 points every time it comes around. I can get that in a month but it's like they see a bunch of people getting close and say they are OOS. I guess if they are going to play dirty so can I lol.
Check out ShutUp10, I'm not sure if it works on Win7/8.x, but I use it and have almost every option enabled to prevent that kind of crap from happening.

And being just short then it going OOS sucks, I've seen that happen plenty of times, and if I didn't have other accounts in my household to share between I would have been short myself.

Side note: I wonder if MS is going to add the new XBLG+Game Pass combo cards to MSR, for a reasonable point redemption total, I think it would go over well if they did.

I looked up if Shutup10 works for 7 and 8 not that long ago. I double checked as well as had a look at majorgeeks and softpedia and they all say for Windows 10. I think there are other programs or used to be anyways.

Game Pass seems to be popular so maybe they will eventually include it with gold for points. Not my cup a tea but it should be an option in the future.

There could be similar programs for 7/8 if OOSU10 doesn't do it, otherwise you just need to be mindful of the "phone home" updates that MS released and uninstall them (and make sure they don't come back).

I don't mind Game Pass when you can get 3 months for $1, but the normal monthly/annual pricing on it IMO is too high for what you're getting, probably a good 80% or better of what's on there I already have on Steam, or am simply not interested in the first place. There's maybe 4-5 games on it I'm interested in playing via GP, and that's about it. Granted, if XB1 were my primary gaming system vs. my PC, it might be a different story. And I know, I could keep a GP subscription going for free with my MSR points, but I'd rather keep banking those for the Xbox2 (or whatever they're calling the next-gen console). Should only take a few hundred thousand points, right? Wink

Not sure how people sell these for $40. I've tried several times on Reddit, and was only able to sell 1. I still have 3 left and couldn't get them sold, even at $35 each.
Sell on this community, it will be easy to sell for ~$40.
