Dell has a great price after factoring in the GC.

Also you can sign up to their rewards program (free) for an extra 3%-6% ($30-$60) in GCs.

Bwaha, yeah, Rtings isn't everything, but to be fair almost all review sites do favor the P series to the 6 series. Not all, but most...
Yes and this is because the vizio has a lot of nice features and it's better than the tcl on some fronts she the local dimmimng works great when using tests patterns... But in real world content it falls short.

Kind of like his car markers used to tune their engines to the exact tests the EPA used which ended up with much higher mileage ratings than you really get.

Vizio p series is higher rated on rtings, so I poop on what you say
I mean it's your choice, trust test patterns and review numbers or the videos I posted if the actual issues you can see with your own eyes and several people on avsforum have confirmed...

Yes... And what I posted is real content. I also appears in about 80% of HDR material I watched over 2 months. It was also confirmed by several used at avsforum that they had the same issue.

Are you thinking just because I didn't take a video of every time it happened it only happens in those two spots?

I mean rtings even mentions under their local dimmimng section that this is an issue that had been reported.

I mean to ahead and get this set then... Just know you were warned Smilie

Hey, quick question about the FALD blooming issues that you and others have reported on. Looks nasty in the videos I've seen. I would hate it. My question is: do you think it's a fundamental issue with how Vizio's hardware responds to local dimming, or do you think it's a panel lottery kind of issue. I don't mind rolling the dice and trying to get lucky with a good panel. But if it's something like an algorithm issue, I would rather stay away.

Do you have a tv you would reccomend? I've been on the fence with the vizio P and PQ, but it's the issues you've mentioned and its upconverting that have kept me on the fence. I've also considered the 900f and Q8, but the more I delve down the research hole I find reports of issues with them to, to an extent. OLED isn't an option for me (kids and wife cannot be trusted lol). I was dead set on the 900f before I started down the research path...At this point I'm wondering if I should just say screw it and pickup a cheaper non FALD tv like the Q6 and just hang out and wait to see what another year or so brings....

Been 2 months since my 2013 Sony gave up the ghost, and I'm still staring at the line of dead pixels down the middle of the screen because I cant seem to find the right set to buy lol!!

Did you run these tests via internal streaming apps or external blu-ray player?

What setting was the local dimming on?

What mode was the TV in (Game mode?)?

Not sure you can rule out a configuration issue. Sounds like it may be that areas you think are black aren't actually black, so the Vizio thinks it needs to turn on the backlight there.

The chief issue would be compression de-blocking. If the internal algorithms are turned off or if something else is doing the job poorly and lying to the TV, it would produce blocks of non true black.

Agreed... i love mine. Coming from a panny plasma this is a superb set! Don't regret my purchase at all.
Agreed. The first time I turned it on and fired up Netflix I was blown away by the black levels. I thought I'd never see blacks as good as my Samsung plasma could deliver until then.

I bought this tv, and I don't regret it.

But there is one issue that is annoying. The smartcast UI, or whatever they call their software, is a major pain. Half the time it will say it can't load anything and to please try again. It takes 3 - 5 power off/on cycles to get working. It's a slow menu also, don't expect to try to do anything fast. I don't have cable, and mainly use their UI for my 2 year old when he watches tv.

Other than that it's a good tv. Good picture quality. HDMI port 5 is hooked up to my PC and I don't notice any input lag when gaming. Blurays look nice, but not QLED quality (also no QLED burn in issues though).

Good deal at this price if you are to use the gift card

You must be doing some other math.

$1,000 *1.07 = $1,070 - 250 GC = $820

900*1.07 = $963

Only seeing a difference of $143 and that is saying the GC worth face value. Maybe you factored in some cash back or something else?
Also costco offers 5 yrs warranty with additional 65$

I have this TV, got it from the BBY 899 deal back in November. This is my 4th Vizio and this one also suffers from extreme lag when switching inputs using HDR10 and Dolby Vision. I had the same issues with my 1080p vizio when using HD inputs. Not a deal breaker for most but anyone who has ever owned a Vizio smart TV has probably experienced this. Also isn't compatible with Xbox One Dolby vision. There is about a 10 second delay when using Dolby Vision on my 4K Apple TV. I really wanted to like this TV.

Has anyone used Citi price rewind? Since Chase and Discover removed the PP I looked and saw Citi still had an option but I have never used it before. Could you buy this and submit BB/Costco price of $900 and get the difference?
