Seems like it's well liked. It only costs $10/mo for the monitoring service. I'm considering it. Here's an earlier thread with some additional comments/reviews from SD'ers:

Installed Simplisafe for my parents years ago and it worked well enough but is extremely outdated now. The monthly costs to be able to use your mobile device is about $25/month compared to $100/year with Ring (the cost includes unlimited cameras for Ring). The Ring Alarm has been really reliable for both my parents and myself so far (about 9 months).

Thanks for the responses it sounds as if simplisafe offers very little at the basic $15/mo. Plan almost zero app functionality. I am tempted to give ring a try at this entry price point

Is this as good of a deal as previous Costco deals? I thought I recall a better deal from Costco in the past

This past weekend I actually changed out Simplisafe for Ring and I'm pretty sure I made a good decision. Besides saving $200 a year on the monitoring service, Simplisafe was just disconnecting all too often, not sure why. Possibly spotty cell connection - which is what SS uses exclusively - is the culprit even though I live in west Houston. I found both systems equally easy to install and add on to. Both have good customer service (had to call Ring once to ask an app question). The Ring system seems better built to me. The only downside to Ring is the size of the magnet for the sensor. I just re-used the SS magnets, which are quite smaller.

I bought the system thru Costco when it first came out a little over a year ago. It's a no-brainer if you already have the doorbell and/or cameras considering you get unlimited access to all Ring device recordings and 24/7 monitoring with their protect plus plan. Plus if you pay for the year up front it's only $100 total and no contracts or long-term commitments. I can't compare to anything else, but setting this up couldn't be simpler. Only issue you may have to be a little creative about is setting up the sensors for some door/window openings. One of the best investments I've ever spent

Previous deal was $200. Amazon had a deal yesterday for 14 pieces for $279 or 15 pieces for $305. Still live right now. https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/466732

I ended up buying the 15 piece set for $305.

One thing about Simplisafe was a vulnerability with the central receiver that could be jammed or bypassed a few years ago, I'm not sure if that was ever resolved.

The Ring system offers more for less so it seems to be the one to get now.

So on the arm while home option.. does anyone know if you can specifically indicate which motion sensors stay armed or monitored? Or is it all motion sensors are always disarmed?

I have an addition with all windows (indoor pool) and really just want a motion detector out there when we are armed home (say overnight). vs buying 14 window sensors..

However if I also have another motion sensor in the house I cant really have that one activated when armed home because it would trip if people move around the normal part of the house (animals, bathroom, etc).

Yes you can pick which sensors get armed for different settings like Home vs Away
