I have a combination of these, the three way version, and the dimmable version throughout my entire house. A few things that may help some:

- If you're not comfortable with your home's wiring or are unfamiliar with the NEC, it may be best to let someone else install these. The instructions are for a very simplistic setup (one switch controlling one light ie no other circuits to or from the switch), but homes can have all sorts of more complicated wiring setups.

- These are bulky unlike more common switches and sometimes can be a pain getting back into the box. For most of my installs, it took longer to get them back into the box, than it did to make the actual connections. This was usually the case when I was connecting a 2 or 3 switch box

- These require a neutral (common) wire.

- After power failure, these will return to whatever state they were in before the failure.

- These can control the "on/off" function of a ceiling fan, but can not control speed.

- These will NOT control most gas fireplaces. If I remember correctly, the switch for the fireplace just opens and close the gas or something like that. I'm currently still researching ways to control my fireplace via Google Home

- If you have (or are planning to get) the three way version, the light indicator will be brighter for these than the three way version. If you care about that sort of thing, it's really noticeable when they're in the same box together.

- These will occasionally lose connection with the router, but they will reconnect on their own. This hasn't happened much lately so maybe there was a firmware update recently.

- You can use the app to set timers and scenes and things like that. I have mine set to turn the porch light on and off at dusk and dawn and turn on a light every now and then when I'm on vacation.

- These do not require a hub.

- They work with both Google Home and Amazon Echo.

- They fit in regular decora switch plates if you have a double or triple box setup. This only comes with a single box plate. I suggest you get the extra large size if you need to get a switch plate.

That's all I can think of right now, but I'm willing to answer any specific questions anyone has. Overall, they have been a great addition to my home. I'm much lazier now lol.

Get a timer switch for your bathroom fan. I just press 10,20,30, or 40 minutes and then it turns off after that time.

Can these be used as dumb switches as well as smart? Are people still waiting for the Inovelli $30 pre-orders that were posted a while back?

based on the one review it seems like this does need a common wire, can anyone confirm?

trying to make my 1950's dumb house smart is tougher than it looks when everything needs a C-wire

I had the same issue so I went with Lutron Caseta switches.

Thanks OP. Not even sure if I need these but hey I just got moms an Alexa, so I know where these are going if Im all out of room. Yes the switches can be used manually, the native app allows for control from phone manually or set to a timer. These require a common wire and make sure if you need to replace a 3 way switch you need to buy the HS210, not this one.

These will not work for 3 way switch replacement.

These are also $47.99 on Amazon plus a 20% off coupon, that ends up being $38.39 before taxes

I did in my kitchen with a 3-way, too, because one had been moved and the genius who did it didn't fish the neutral because he didn't have enough Romex.
