To add something further to help, Pyrex today is licensed by two companies: World Kitchen (US) and Arc International (France)

HOT TIP: Anything made with a lower case 'pyrex' logo is made in the US and is soda-lime. Anything with upper case 'PYREX' is made in France and still uses borosilicate glass. (Older Pyrex made in America by Corning will also have the upper case logo.)

For those that did not understand what G37 and megablank are talking about. Pyrex use to be made from borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass does not expand as much due to temperature changes and is much less likely to break or explode from temperature changes.

Soda-lime glass is much more fragile in comparison. Hence why you hear people complain glass will explode due to small chips or temperature changes. Also why you see lots of old Pyrex at estate sales as it holds up really well.

So the newer stuff is ok if you are very careful with it. But no where near as good as the original Pyrex.

I only have the new and I've dropped a bowl once or twice with no chips or breakage. Temperature changes haven't been a problem. Just use some common sense and you'll be fine. There are instructions so just be a little mindful in handling them. Still the prices seem just OK.

I have a set of new soda lime pyrex bowls (2 years old) and they are all chipped around the edges simply from storing them nested in a drafty cabinet. Also, multiple lids are cracked.

I have an older borosilicate Pyrex set (probably 10-15 years old) that I store nested with the newer and not a single one is chipped.

i have the measuring cup i got in a deal last november too. I love it because unlike Anchor Hocking, the numbers dont rub off. I noticed the storage i got last year compared to my bf's 10 year old pyrex the glass was different. Thank you for all the posts explaining. Still Pyrex is way better than all others.

I've been tossing mine in the dishwasher for years. The numbers are still like new. My measuring cups are probably about 5 years old.

You must have one of those dishwashers in commercials where you can put a dry and dirty lasagna pan in the dishwasher and it comes out sparkling. All of mine between 10 and 5 years are like new.
