Core M3 on $900 device? Seems too weak?

I know the big thing is thin and light, but I really wish that Apple would allow at the very least a replaceable SSD in this. Having it soldered down to the motherboard is why I just got a 2015 MBP Retina instead. USB port daughterboard would also be nice, making it easier to swap out parts instead of purchasing an entire new computer.

The SSD is one of the critical wear-sensitive parts of the computer, and a non-replaceable SSD guarantees a specific life expectancy. I wonder how the keyboard longevity is on this too, with all the issues Apple is having with their keyboards.

I bought this laptop a few weeks ago because I needed portability. The iPad Pro 11 just isn't a laptop replacement, but I wanted a similar form factor to carry with me all day (without a bag). I love it. Honestly, I know I could get a better value with windows, but it has handled everything I need it to perfectly. No hiccups.
The fact I am in apple ecosystem, and being able to text message from my laptop was worth the price vs convenience trade off.

It displays 4K 60hz while I'm in the office on my external monitor. Runs everyday tasks, has a noticeably brighter screen (and noticeably lighter) than the new retina air, which I bought, and returned to purchase this.

The lack of thunderbolt is the only real drawback. I manage with 1 usb c port, and a dongle. I keep a usb c to usb a adapter on my key chain just in case. No complaints.

Edit-I forgot to even mention the trackpad. That weighed heavily in my decision. It's just the best experience

There seems to be a limit of one per account. I tried to buy another one after my first order and it didn't let me. FYI

Thanks for posting, OP! Can anyone explain the difference between this model and the one linked below? Looking for a laptop for my daughter to take to college in the fall.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/appl...Id=5998802

Edit: I think I may have answered my own question. Looks like this model is just an updated gold color from what was initially released. Interestingly, the gold model from OP's post is 1,039.99 while this one is 849.99.

When I attempted to PM that deal at BB, I got hit with a shipping charge they tacked on to make it truly equivalent. In the end I paid the same as what this sale is going for now. The absolute steal here is the open box though
