I used a 128gb version of this at work a year or so ago and it failed way too fast...as in it won't even enumerate on the bus anymore. I don't think my total use came close to writing half of the capacity of the drive. Perhaps I just got a lemon, but we just stuck with Samsung usb3 flash drives since then. I hope this 256gb is more reliable.

My work bought a bunch of the 32GB versions. They dropped like flies. Failing left and right. Nobody will touch them anymore. 256GB is a lot of data to lose, just sayin.

I've used these in the past. The retractable mechanism is annoying. It does not lock in place when retracted so if you're trying to plug it in to the back of your TV or printer it ends up sliding forward.. not good and results in lot of bruised knuckles

Just got mine (128GB) in the other day. IT SUCKS! Writes in fits and starts at terrible speeds. Very wonky. I have the SAME drive from YEARS AGO and it was GREAT. My experience is not unique, they have swapped for CHEAPER CHIPS. Not sure where you got the posted write speeds OP? But you'll be lucky to get ~15MB/s. It will jump from 0 to ~30 and back down to 0, rinse repeat. (large file copy) I'm returning it.

Got mine and I totally agree. Does write in fits and starts, terrible speeds. I called Rakuten and explained that the item was terrible and they are issuing a credit for the device. BTW, to show how Dell wants to unload these crap drives they sent me 5 of them (imagine my joy at first until I used one) and not 1 as I ordered, so I assume they'll all be the same in terrible function. Serves them right.Mad

I must be one of the lucky ones as I've been using two of the 128GB drives for years without an issue... And I read/write from/to them constantly.

The old ones were great. Mine (identical) has been working for years. I get fairly stable write speeds ~60MB/s on my old one. The new one not so much.... Very deceptive. I was sure people were just complaining because they had no clue or had individual bad sticks... Nope! Quality went WAAYY down on these at some point over the years. Frown

That's too bad. I'll be sure to stay away as well, in that case.

No reason to have two separate threads for different capacities.
