Shell Shocker deal ends in about 12 hours. Read this version is much better than the 1st generation. Has a PIR thermal detection sensor, requires less power (8-24V AC), and still has onboard microSD local recording.

In the market for video doorbell and I know this is a bit off topic but:

How do these compare to Nest Hello and Ring lineup?

Am I paying for the brand names with the above or actually quality tech with good cloud storage options?

The product's name is not the the One Halo, that is the second gen name. It is LaView LV-PDBONLO3R 3MP 2K HD Smart Video IP Doorbell Camera Wi-Fi 5 GHz, 180 Degree Vertical FOV, IP65 1st gen, please correct

Just a warning for buying LaView. The support is really bad. I have a DoorBell CAM that I bought from them. After the s/w update, it's no longer sending out notification. And it has been more than 2 months and still haven't heard of when they will fix it. This becomes an expensive doorbell button with camera.

Anyone know if this is ONVIF or has an RTSP feed to add to Blue Iris ?

It looks like a straight rip from the EZVIZ DB1. Meaning it's a Hikvision built device. I just have no clue. If it has ONVIF/RTSP, I'm all aboard.
It's RTSP feed. I am able to add it to Blue Iris.
ONVIF Support available in Q2 2019: https://www.laviewsecurity.com/one-halo-2.html

Correction: My experience is for 2nd gen. Not sure about 1st gen.

I have the same experience. Until you call them, the ticket you open online will never get response.

Yes. I have it working with BI with no issues.
Correction: I have One Halo version which I highly recommend.

Same here. I got the older doorbell and I don't get notification through the app. And support is horrible in response. Takes forever to get reply. Then they replied if the issue was resolved and im like no. But I think they closed the ticket. So still problems with app. But camera was giving issue too but they still haven't fix.

Did you try to email them or just call? It could be your router as well. I have a Skybell and it randomly started having issues connecting when my Orbi router auto updated. I can't remember if it was Netgear or Skybell that e-mailed me the fix but it was with my router settings.

Hi FeistyRain, IAmANightmare, CompasssionateVEg

FYI - feisty started a thread at ipcamtalk
https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/lav...ion.38192/

maybe related to the following rca model
https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/new...era.31601/

if like the previous model - all were hikvision OEM and had an available rtsp stream

HI Z16A - even with a 640x480 you can capture a license plate if it is close enough. So the real issue is pixels on target and the reflective quality of license plates in low light conditions.

Cameras with a wide FOV have very short ID distances - that is the pixel density quickly gets reduced further away from a camera.

Video doorbell cameras are designed to capture someone at the door - and thus very poor to capture objects further away.
