That's great! But you are still running a cable to it, just from a different source. Me personally would find it much simpler to find 1 power source and run a cable to the rear cam. Not everyone is as fortunate as you to have a power source in the back.

I have the DR02 and it is awesome. I paired it with this $20 Motion sensor which is now the best combo:
$20 https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Hard...way&sr=8-3

You can get power from a multitude of places in the rear of a car/truck.

I just returned the DR02 J 4K one.

First it's not actually 4K, the sensor records at a lower resolution and they just upscale it to 4K.

Second, the video quality is not that good because the bitrate is just too low. Some people may describe this as pixelated or blotchy and this is the reason I returned it.

Third, Aukey did not want to honor their 45 day "money back guarantee" and it took several emails before they finally would honor it. Aukey wanted Amazon to take the return however Amazon only offers a 30 day return period so after contacting Amazon, they would give me 80% back (the other 20% was a restocking fee since it was past their 30 day return policy) and finally I got Aukey to give me back the other 20%. Make sure to take a screenshot of the listing showing a 45 day money back guarantee, use a credit card in case you have to do a charge back (but than would you have to worry about amazon banning you?), And be prepared to fight Aukey.

We have two Blackvue cams in our vehicles which have been running rock solid for the past few years except for needing a battery/capacitor change.

Purchased the DR02, mainly for a rental vehicle and had to return it after a couple of weeks mainly for the following reasons
  • Recording ceased occasionally as it did not loop on the micro SD card. I tried the 16/32 & 64GB genuine Samsung from my GoPro
  • During night recording the license #'s of vehicles were mostly washed out, too bright to be seen on the recording even for the ones directly in front.
  • Missed recording in the emergency mode a couple of times when we braked very hard
  • Continuous use (4-5 hrs) generated way too much heat.
My feeling was that inadequate heat insulation caused the loop and failure to record in an emergency both of which are critical in a dash cam.

Very cool, glad you pointed this out. Didn't even know something like this existed. Been waiting for a deal to get a dashcam for the new car so this will be perfect.

Even with an outlet, climbing into the back every time you drive to turn the damned thing on and off.

You were using the wrong SD card. You need endurance card. User error.
And he also voided the standard card's warranty.
