It was a good lens in it's day. I'm amazed they even have this in stock new.

If you are on a budget and want a zoom on a full frame, not bad. Works on crops as well but it is much longer and has no image stabilization.Alternate would be the Tamron 24-70 VC which used is readily available

Sony users, get the new version, excellent lens.

Definitely. A close crop equivalent would probably be this Tamron SP 17-50mm F/2.8:

I've been eyeing the Canon 24-70mm F/4 for a while for full-frame but jumped on this deal instead. I don't expect it to perform like an L lens, but the price is right and I'm an enthusiast. Also, it's lighter and less bulky.

Got it used for $150, really good light weighted lens.

I will not buy it for crop sensor. There are better lens available - sigma 17-50mm f/2.8

Way too expensive for an F4 lens, especially since a 24-105 f4 from sigma is close to the same price. Also, canon doesn't dominate like they used to as far as lenses go. The lens in this thread is known as being extremely sharp. Subsequent tamron lenses and now sigma art lenses are just as sharp as canon.

Agreed. For crop this is such an awkward range. Money is better spent elsewhere.
