IMHO the angled ones would be great b/c they don't flex or crush, since elders don't follow instructions about what to do or how to behave. From experience using them as a non-elder but having been caregiver, I would say much easier for all involved.

the silicone straws are less dangerous, have a larger diameter and safer in general... and similar in price

Took me about 30 seconds to find the same thing on ebay for $3.51. There might be cheaper out there, but it took no effort to find at least one less expensive alternative to this post. Not a deal.

Edit: and all of the thumbs up for such an average price! Beware, fellow SD'ers.
shipped in 2 days, or the slow boat from China? Link or it didn't happen!

Avoid if possible, but if you want to use them Be careful of your teeth! My wife is a dentist and many people have been coming in with chipped front teeth from steel straws!

Front teeth will never be the same with after a chip!

Maybe a softer silicone style / covered straw would be better . But definitely the curved one is good for them so they don't have to angle the cup or their head as much.
