Too much love for Canon, which means high demand, and no reason for discount...

Good lens and for $549 is a good price.

My $0.02 though its just a weird zoom range I'd prefer if it was 16-35mm or 18-55mm. I'd rather have f1.8 primes such as 35mm f1.8 and a wide/ultra wide prime f1.4 or f1.8. from 20-35mm there is not much difference really, and 18mm is wide but not wide enough.

It's 18-35 because it's built for APSC bodies. With the crop factor it makes this lens 24-55

this is for crop sensor bro. equivalent to 24-50mm range which are very standard focal lengths.

I think he knows that, just isn't sure how to use this lens. I'm not sure either - like what sort of shots do you take w/ f/1.8 at 18mm? Low-light walk around shots I guess?

I have this lens and I like it, but not quite used to how to use it yet. It's also very heavy.

If you have 35mm and 50mm prime already, does it make sense to buy this other than convenient of not having to carry 2 lens.

I shoot aspc. I replaced my 35/50/85 primes with this sigma and the 50-100 1.8.

I prefer not having to constantly switch my lenses.

As for 18 at 1.8...astrophotography. I also use it to get wide angle close ips with a softened background of things.

Yes I do know its for DX crop sensor (actualy its 27-52.5mm because 24-50 is the equiv of 16-33 [1.5x crop factor]) thats why Im saying 18-35 is a very normal range and theres not really much of a difference between those focal lengths. 18mm is wide but not too wide, and 35mm has no reach, wish its at least 50mm. and for the length weight and cost its really hard to justify, if it works for you though then good! I am just saying there are better alternatives, yes there is versatility in not having to change your lens but the range is not very useful at all.

Yes, I dont know what the use of this lens as well, for astrophotograhy there are wider and better options like manual lenses 12mm f2 Samyang, or if you need AF (which I doubt) tokina 11-16 f2.8.

wow sigma 18-35 f1.8 + 50-100 f1.8 cost more than $1500 combined, the primes 35/50/85 is just about $600. hey if you have the money go for it, but for us slickdealers I'd prefer cheap price and zoom with my feet.

EDIT:
Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 is a better choice for me for $219 (recent $280) but again if price doesnt matter and f1.8 is what youre looking vs zoom range then go with this lens.
