Some friends of mine said Air China frequently gets delay (flight time changes) and cancel at last minutes. Is that true? Thanks.

yeah, avoid Air China if you could. I would never do transfer flight in China because their archaic air control always delays flight. I was stuck on the tarmac for 90 min coming back from Shanghai before.

I've flown them about 6x and have purchased for family tickets with them due to cost and affiliation with United airlines (so you can get miles). They do seem to have delays, but not cancellation (one time flying back from Tokyo there were thunderstorms in Beijing so they did cancel and route us with Ana airline which was even better).

Why they charge 84.6% tax. It is about the same as the ticket. So the total will be $950 instead of $499

Air china is a fine airline, no issues with them at all. Just book ticket to Japan for $499, this is great deal if you can find travel.

I'm just here for the anti-Chinese sentiment from ignorant people. It started in post #2, you guys are on your game!

Air China is fine. Used them many times. Ignore the stupid comments.

To each their own, but I will never fly Air China again. Just got back from Shanghai on their last promo on a last minute UA flight. Air China cancelled every flight I booked and didn't reschedule until I called them. The only saving grace was the rebooking to a code share flight after spending hours on the phone with a manager. If you're going to Asia, stick with Hainan or another carrier.

And if I do? I'd rather look like a dumb tourist on an airplane than a dumb tourist in a foreign country who can't figure out how to rebook a cancelled flight.
