Does this work better than a dedicated sausage stuffer? I want to make Italian sausage and kielbasa.
95% of the Kitchenaid attachments are over-priced and often don't work as well as standalone units, IMO. You'd think Kitchenaid would be able to make some of these a good bit cheaper than a whole unit with built-in motor, but somehow they're just not able to (or really don't want to). With the exception of certain Slickdeals, there's usually little good reason to buy one. In this case, I'd guess it's work about as well as an entry level dedicated unit. Main benefit for KA attachments is just that they take up less space and easier to store as they don't have their own motors.

I bought mine a few months ago for a good $25 more, love it. Well built and works great. Hopefully it's a buy it for life item!

Best price I've ever seen, even beats used. Ordering for DIY burger mixes.

"metal grinder attachment"... well, what metals are people grinding with their food mixer?? Smilie

definitely the way to read it, but plenty of reasons to grind metal. Just not in food preparations.

PS. Got the plastic one with sausage stuffer extras several years ago in another slickdeal. Works fine for small jobs, though I've only used it a few times (< 1 / year).
My plastic one was putting metal shavings and grayish stuff into my grind. Had to stop using it. I'm interested in the all metal version, but I bought a stand alone grinder that does a decent job.

If you own a Kitchen Aid stand mixer, your whole goal in life is to brag about all of the attachments you have, and ideally placed in a visible location so that your guests will be impressed about all of the many things you can do with this incredible device - shortly thereafter moving them into a convenient pile so that you can take something disgusting out of the microwave to feed your family. Or perhaps it's just my wife that does this.

No joke. I just bought this grinder because of this comment. I may never use it but I'm going to stare at this thing while eating TV dinners. And this is a great price.

A very common affliction of the wife who wants to act like she's cooking. Sorry for your loss.

We actually use this all the time in our house. Just used it today in fact for Thai basil chicken!

Some people have iron deficiencies and this is a great way to incorporate it back into your diet.
How much iron do you , since you come off as an expert, think you would get by using this grinder? I would think taking a Dr recommended supplement would give a more reliable dosage but, I'm no expert.

I will attest that of all the KitchenAid accessories, the only one I've bought that's broke is my plastic version of this, and I barely used it.

I'd definitely recommend the metal version.

Reason to use the metal one is to store it in the freezer, so that when grinding the meat, it is as cold as possible. Semi freeze the meat and combined with a colder grinder, will yield much better results.

Does anyone know if this would work with a Cuisinart stand mixer? Can't find anything online
