Dual subwoofers helps to cover the room evenly with bass. With a single sub, some areas in the room may not have much bass while other areas are fine. To ensure proper coverage, dual subs are recommended.
Well depending on your room/layout you may just need one. Also depends on what you want out of a sub also.
"Proper coverage" really only applies to your seating area, so with all that in mind you may only need one, two may be overkill.

much better deal IMO....its the Klipsch R-120SW for $209....and it will fit easily in a normal vehicle, LOL!

Wrong. The equivalent 12" in this line would be the R-112 not R-120. Completely different subs. R-120 was recently $120 due to price mistake at AMZ. Very average 12" subwoofer. Nothing special at all. I have one sitting unused in a closet.

Anyone know if Best Buy or others will match?
I haven't matched at Best Buy in ages, but I expect you know a B&M won't carry an amp like this. Typically online via phone or chat requires the item's price to be visible and it to be in stock. Since Frys.com has disabled inventory checking on this item, it's very unlikely.

Recent 20% coupon has been listing Klipsch as one of the exclusions so I doubt you can use it for this.

+1, tried it but it didn't work
I didn't know this. In March I used the 20% off coupon on this subwoofer and paid $479.20 + tax. I wasn't lucky enough to get the extra $50 off some people got. It's sad but not in any way surprising that Fry's took away using the coupon on (all?) Klipsch products. One by one Fry's and pretty much every other retailer eliminates all the good deals. Soon the Fry's 20% off coupon will look like a Sears or Kmart coupon with a list of exclusions so long that it would be faster to list what is included rather than what is excluded. This is just the jillionth example of "All good things (deals especially) must come to an end or change for the worse".

bagwell, thanks for confirming the coupon didn't work. At least now I don't feel so bad knowing it's only $30 cheaper than what I paid rather than $120 with the coupon. I rarely go near Fry's since it's a bit of a drive. Ironically I was right across the street from Fry's at opening today for something else, but I didn't go to Fry's because I have no use for a 3rd one of these subwoofers, and that's assuming they had any left in stock. The 2 I already have are more than adequate to fill moderate sized rooms with high ceilings by themselves. I used my older Polk PSW505s (which don't cut it by themselves) as secondary subs in the rooms with the R115SW.

Now I just have to worry that I don't have any amp problems after the warranties end. I assume with this model gone for good at Fry's, they will be carrying the new model and who knows what sort of prices those will have. I would've bought the SVS PB2000 everyone recommends but $699 is the cheapest I ever saw it which is more than $200 over this "equivalent" Klipsch.

"Yeah, that's right, Matrix. You did."
"I LIED!" and Arnie drops him off the cliff.

Maybe, but the SVS PB2000 is even more overpriced (comparatively speaking).

I ended up buying one for the 549 price on Saturday... and got this one at 449. Went back and they price match the 549 to 449 if anyone did the same thing I did.

Well it depends on your perspective and what you want out of your sub. If you want a precise ,articulate sub it comes with the price. This is one of those situations where you get what you pay for.
If the PB 2000 is on your radar you might want to consider the PB12. SVS every once in a while puts it on sale for around $500 and the difference between the two is minimal.

Well. My local Fry's have plenty in stock so the price might go even lower soon.

For now I don't think I have enough space where my 2 12's are so anyone can offer a best placement for a 3rd 15" sub? I was thinking behind the center chair at the back of the room if that makes sense. Too bad wireless kit is not on sale nor in stock.

The klipsch model numbers can cause confusion. I'm in area code 31904 (west central GA) if u live near by. I don't have the boxes for shipping any more. I bought two of the R-120's. That price mistake "sale" only lasted about an hour! One is in my gym. I couldn't find a use for the second so it's setting in a closet. I already had two subwoofers in my bedroom system, two in my living room system, and one attached to my TV in my kitchen. I might have a "problem" 🙈. Lol.

Well understand your comparing a ported 15" vs sealed 12". Upon saying that it also depends what you want/expect out of a sub and the size room your using it.
In general if your set up is a larger size room or very open space going with a ported sub makes more sense.
A medium size room that's not to open you can get away with a sealed one.

If your main priority loud volume then yes this would fit the bill
If you like more a articulate, precise sub then SVS (or the like) would be the way to go.
Hope this helps
PB2000 is ported.

The R-115SW is in another league, competing with SVS PB-2000. Also, the 12 is rear ported, which is a no go if u put it against wall.

This is just bad advice, sorry. This 15 is a good deal for what it is, but it is not in another league to the pb2000. It's actually 100 watts less and weighs about the same despite being a 15 vs a 12. That tells you all you need to know. Not to mention a 5 year svs warranty vs. 1 for the Klipsch. Also the pb2000 is front ported and is smaller.

Look, a good 15 is always going to beat out a good 12 but you're comparing an underpowered and unremarkable 15 to a very good 12

this was really in response to the first comment above
