What is the best way to spend these points? For normal conversation, 1point is less than 1 cent.
I usually wait for the yearly-ish sale (should be soon) on Home Depot gift cards. I get about 1.2 cents per point on something of value to me. I've probably more than doubled the cost of the Amex Gold card in Home Depot gift cards alone.

Points for travel isn't bad, but I've found that without status in a mileage club, I don't get as much value for them. When I was travelling more for work and my Delta Skymiles status was Gold or Platinum level, I got a lot more value out of my miles, since I basically got free upgrades on top of full price tickets, which I could cover in points. That was good for round trip Hunstville, AL (expensive airport) to Fairbanks, AK (also up there) first class for around 60K points -- so basically $600.

Darn, not eligible and my daughter cracked her Fire screen this morning by accident (a mere 5 days after our 2 year warranty ran out, of course). I've not been eligible for any of these promos - is it because my Amex points have long been linked to my Amazon account?

Not eligible. I specifically got an Amex hoping to get one of these Amazon deals, and the last 2 haven't been eligible. I guess it's a waiting game, so I'll keep checking.

Thanks for posting op

Yup! Points guy valuation is somewhere around 1.4 cents per point.

Transfer Redemption is best, then try for Amex Travel or GC redemptions at 1 cpp.

Either way the best redemption is what works for you.

Source: enjoyed Europe last summer almost all on points flying in business class.
Couldn't agree more, MR points is best for traveling.
