My son has used this phone in the 64+4 AMZ variation for over 2 years now. What a tank that thing has been. Very solid performance and imo unsurpassed durability. I agree the camera is pretty lackluster. Gcam would probably help. I'd pass on this deal though as it's the 32gb variant

Mint is fantastic, but I'd caution anyone who wants to use the Moto for more than light usage. I had a G5 plus and it became extremely laggy after a few months - had a G4 before that, it too became extremely laggy after a few months. Switched to an LG V30 and never looked back, had it for almost a full year and still no lag.

My Moto G5+ 64gb got water damaged.... Miss that phone. Got a pixel 2 - way faster, but less customization. I can't mute Slickdeals notification sounds, either block them completely or hear them and think it's a text. Also can't change the default Phone dialer app at all for screening calls. Seems pretty weird a flagship won't let you customize, but I digress.

I have read issues about t mobile having poor service in large crowds cause you are low priority within the network being a mint mobile customer. Is this still the case? It's the reason I have go to sprint using Republic Wireless. T Mobile on RW was awful any time I went to a concert or large event. I could never get service.

I have this 4gb RAM/ 64 gb storage - been using that for about 17 months.
Got it in 2017 Christmas for $275 - with 6 months of free republic wireless 2 gb plan. IMHO the 4GB vs 3 GB RAM shouldn't make much difference if you are not having many applications open as this give a pretty good close vanilla android experience.

Camera is sub-par, but phone is pretty solid, but after the Oreo 8.1 update the hotspot feature doesn't seem to work.
Hotpsot turns on and devices can connect to the wifi-hotspot but dont' seem to access internet. had multiple triages, device reset with moto support but don't seem to find the problem. It is not carrier problem aslo as the same SIM /hotspot works properly in another phone.
Since it is out of warranty - Moto is offering a replacement but is asking for $100 + 24.99 (premium, if I need the replacement phone before I send in my old phone).
Not sure if anyone has got this problem, The phone is pretty solid but the hotspot feature not working bothers me a lot

Yes I have noticed that, it is probably due to some bands are missing in the phone for t-mobile and at&t network. However, with Verizon - it has all the bands and has excellent coverage.

That's true with any MVNO. They will always get de-prioritize. Even Metro get slower and they are own by T-Mobile.

My original G5/64GB/4ram has been good for the past 2 years, other than the camera randomly turning off from time to time. I hear a lot of horror stories about this one, it always made me wonder about this version. I kind of want to pick this up for a gift, but kind of afraid.
Been using the G5S Plus for 2 years and it has been a great phone/camera. Only had minor photos issues

Sprint on RW seems way better to me. Is it just a T-moblie thing?
