How does this phone compare with the G5? Not familiar with the Splus version.

In for 2, one for mom and 1 for wife. It's not an amazing phone but for $140.00 I mean be realistic. I need something unlocked, and you really can't beat this price for specs on a new unlocked phone. Great for light use and normal people. Not for me, I need to spend $800+ to be happy with my phone. Thanks for the post 👍

The g6 64/4 on Amazon has been dropping to 160 quite a bit in the last month, isn't it a better phone?
g6 64/4 is better in most things for general use:
slightly bigger screen
slightly better camera
larger storage
more likely to be upgraded (since it's 1 year newer)
supports newer WIFI technology
supports face unlock
looks more premium (if you're a fan of glass back)

I pre-ordered this phone before its release. Loved it for about the first year. Today, it is almost unusable. I've done a factory reset and it still acts this way. Cannot wait to replace it.

For your sake, do not buy this phone. I'm an IT and have dealt with hundreds of phones now. Though the Moto G5S Plus is a great phone, it has a constant weak connection to 4G LTE. I've rooted, I've boosted, tried everything and it would not go past half bar. This was with 4 different Moto G5S Plus phones and on three different networks (T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon) in Orange County, CA.
I am not in IT, but switching the default "Preferred network type" from "Global" to "LTE/CDMA" boosts the signal indicator on my G5S Plus (also in Orange County, CA). I can't say it's always showing full signal, but it definitely shows full signal more often with this setting.

8GB for 3 months or 8GB per month. Update looks like it's per month and this seems like a really good deal and after the 3 months I can lock in at $20 a month for a year? What towers do the run on. Anyone have luck with mint mobile. Also If i wanted to go with their 12GB plan for $25 a month for a year do i have to get a new sim card from them? How do they compare to Republic Wireless that I have had for years now.
I've had Mint Mobile for a year now and have been very happy with it. The towers run on T-Mobile, at least where I used to live. I traveled cross country with it and it has served pretty well in most places (except where there are many hills). Haven't used Republic Wireless so I can't offer a comparison there. If I didn't already have a phone and plan with Mint, I would definitely be getting this.

Daughter has a E4 that has seen better days, but I already have her Mint Mobile. Could the 3 months be resold or is it tied to the phone/has an expiration?

Would anyone recommend this phone for an older person. Senior ? My mom and dad want a phone because they see everyone else at the shopping mall have one. And all their friends have iphones. But, I don't want to get them something they'll never use full functionality of . Is this a good phone? They don't know how to use the internet. Never had a computer. Even my grandfather whos 89 has a smartphone, which he barely understands how to use. My parents have been on flip phone for so long. they don't know what http is or a url. Or a widget or gui. they don't know where wifi comes from. They don't know what touch screen is. They don't know how to type either . My mom was a stay at home mom. My dad is was an automotive body technician. My dad never knew how mouses worked, Theyre too old. 70, AND 67.

It is not tied to the phone. I don't see why it could not be resold. I haven't gotten a firm answer but rumor has it they have to be activated within 45 days of purchase.

I would say yes. It has an almost stock version of Android, with almost no bloat.
And the Moto actions- double shake for flashlight, twist for camera app would actually be pretty useful.
The one downside would be having a microUSB charge port, where you have to pay attention to the direction it is plugged-in vs USB Type C's easier just plug-in.
