They reviews all say it's not actually a refurb but a new item, just leftover stock from the Costco version in generic packaging. Whether you want to consider that a deal is a matter of semantics. Forgetting the discrete sub for now and assuming the 108R is indeed new, is this Yamaha sound bar better for the price than these?
Only one review states that, and I'm not seeing any corroborating evidence for that. The other reviews indicate they are receiving new condition, which could or could not be factory refurbished. If it is leftover stock that is repackaged, I think it's a good deal.

I thought the Yamaha 108 sounded better in person than the two lower grade Samsungs advertised here, though it's sometimes hard to tell in a store environment with poor acoustics and where they don't use digital inputs like you would at home. The highest Samsung model might have a slight edge given the discrete sub. If you plan to add a sub to the 108, that might be a better fit.

Brickseek is definitely always never right just did a buy return buy for a $99 xbox one one store said 17 only 1 on hand smh...but store quantity on their scanner was 17 too ugh good when you find them though
I seriously doubt they were "missing" 16 xboxes. I'm sure they were in the back somewhere and nobody felt like checking. I gave up trying to chase down these ymmv deals from Walmart a couple of years ago. It's the same kind of games that Staples used to play a few years before that which is why I stopped going there altogether. I have much better luck at ymmv deals with Lowes, Target, and Home Depot.

I've had similar model Samsung sound bars and they sound OK. Don't expect a sound system for 100-200 bucks. These are essentially louder sound output for your ultra thin tv that couldn't fit real speakers in it.

These will get you by and will definitely work if your on a budget. Personally I wont buy this again as they sound kind of gutless to me.

That said, these are marketed to the its better than TV speakers and on a budget price point.
That's why I think the Vizio soundbars are a much better bang for your buck. And the ones with rear surrounds aren't too much more than a standard 2.1 one while with Samsung you have to add them. Or a better option yet is to get a low end receiver and start with a pair of bookshelf speakers. Even the smallest bookshelf speakers would sound better than this simply for the fact that you'll have better stereo separation. Down the road you can add a sub, center, a pair of towers, and move the bookshelves to the rear. It doesn't have to be all at once and most receivers these days give you the option to add certain speakers in the setup menu and will compensate. Better upgrade path IMO.

I agree. These are probably ok in a bed room or if you move around a lot and the good system isn't right for you. Save yourself the headache if you are looking for that movie theater surround sound for $100 bucks though. Just know what you are getting into.

If you look hard enough, you could find a low end receiver for around $100 (think they had Sony 5.1 receivers on clearance for less than that a while back at Walmart and actually seen some, but I had no need for one). It had HDMI inputs and an output (much more than you would get from the typical low end sound bar) plus way more power. Even if you don't crank it very much, more power usually translates to cleaner, fuller sound. Also seen some deals here and there on open box receivers at best buy for not too much more than that. Obviously they're mostly just 5.1 and don't have tons of bells and whistles but again, you have way more sound options and flexibility than a sound bar. A pair of entry level speakers can go for around $75 or so - maybe some Pioneer Andrew Jones or some low end Polks. There's also low end 5.1 speaker packages from Harmon Kardon or monoprice to complete an entry level setup if that's the goal. All in you're probably less than $400 for surround sound and I know this is starting to get way off topic, but I see $500 sound bars pop up on here all the time and it makes me shake my head. And they can even get more expensive than that.

I have a Samsung HW- KM38 and it is great for a small bedroom, don't expect it to full a medium or larger sized living room though. I also have a Yamaha 108 in the master bedroom (normal sized) and it is definitely better than the Samsung, but for $80 and in a guest bedroom it works for us.

Thanks OP! I was able to find HW- KM38 for $79 locally but looked like it was a return so it's still there since I am looking for a deal on HW-MM55.

They also had a couple of HW-MM45 and HW-MM36 at the listed clearance prices as well as a few LG sound bars on clearance.

I came across a HW-MM55 in Walmart yesterday. It was under a clearance price of $219

That Yamaha is a really great deal. I'm surprised at the improvement over the 106 model, which was already very good. Pair it with the 8" or 10" sub of your choice and you have soundbar system sound that can't be touched for under $300.

That said, if you are looking for something to grab-and-go with, the Samsungs in this post are a sweet deal.

I am hoping that $219 price drops! It seems Costco has it for 199 but I have not seen it in-store.

Does it have the wireless kit included or was it just the rear speakers?
