How is this compared to Acer VG271UP $320 @Newegg?

This looks like a solid monitor and a good deal for it but I have an NVIDIA GPU, and the Acer isn't compatible with g-sync. Having the Freesync would be a total loss on my system. The Dell also has a little higher refresh rate. The Acer does have speakers though so that's nice. If you have an AMD GPU this might be a better monitor.

If you have one of the recent gpus, Nvidia cards now also support freesync monitors.

Only some FreeSync monitors are supported. Nvidia has a list of 18 that they says they support. The link I put in my OP has a list of monitors that have been tested and determined if they do or don't.

Wrong, the recent NVIDIA driver update now supports Freesync on that Acer monitor now. The Acer IPS panel ,in my experience, is better compared to the TN panel on this Dell and of course, 10hz refresh rate won't make any difference in real life experience.

Check your research,

The VG271UP is not on this list.
And here Display Ninja tested it and determined it is not supported.

I have the VG271UP monitor. You can enable the G-SYNC feature in nVidia control panel with a compatible video card + newest driver... I have a 1660ti.

IPS is where it's at. I'm not going back to TN.

I own this monitor and really like it. The color accuracy and contrast isn't going to compete with a great IPS display, but among TN panels it has to be near the very top. Very solidly built too, no wobble in the stand for me.

This goes for $340 on the Dell website after code SAVE15, and an extra 8% cashback from eb8s and 10% cashback from amex.

Edit: Now it's $305.99 after SAVE15, with an extra 15% cb from eb8s and 10% cashback from amex.
