Lol... Except for the keyboard failures, right?
Which is a mute point since Apple covers the keyboard for 4 years. I don't have one yet but my buddy just had his keyboard replaced after 2 years, and they checked his battery which was getting old, and replaced that for free as well. If anything, Apple takes care of their screwups.

With the new MacBook Air released, I'd hope Apple just ends the 12" MacBook all together; there's just no reason to have them.
I'd disagree. I want something fanless. Im sure I'm not the only one. I'm holding out for the update this year.

1. Prior to the release of the MacBook Air Retina, using your same logic, one could have said "I hope Apple just ends the MacBook Air, there is no reason for them." Then, Apple did a serious upgrade.
2. I suggest you wait for the new MacBook before making your final judgment. There is likely to be a serious upgrade: Intel's Ice Lake-Y processors with four processor cores, GT2 graphics configuration and LPDDR4 3733MHz memory.
3. For some, a machine that is 2 pounds, not 2.96 pounds, is the deciding factor.

how did he get it replaced?
Did he take it in the store or did he call up apple and ship it to them

My keyboard has been acting up but it hasn't been that bad. Kinda waiting closer to the 4 year mark so I can get it fixed.

As long as it's still under warranty, otherwise they might be a little hesitant. Just be nice but persistent. Have you had it for more than a year? And if it's a known issue, they should cover it no matter how long it has been...

Apple used to take care of their screw ups. Check your warranty terms. You might be surprised at the timeframe for what is covered. Also, it's a 'moot' point, not mute. 8-)

Thanks for the correction, I type fast on an iPhone and often don't proofread auto corrects.

You'd be surprised how long apple will take care of their well know issues. I've had a lot of issues with iPhones and Macs over the years and they always "make an exception" to fix it for free if you bring it in.

Overall their customer service has been a lot stricter post Steve Jobs. It's still a lot better than most, and still very fair for the most part, at least in my experience.

Look again, B&H still doesn't charge tax in CA.
Yeah when I go to their site it still literally says no sales tax in CA. I better get my shopping in before that changes though.

i think there's a new promo for 12" Macbook @ Bestbuy which would go down to $899 for core M3+256gb and $1199 for core i5+512gb before taxes.

this promo applies only to bestbuy rewards members.
