Scammed on FaceBook market

71 10 April 23, 2019 at 07:18 PM
Hello, I am new here so I am sorry if I am posting in the wrong place or if these issues are not allowed here.

I was recently scammed on facebook marketplace for $100. I have screen shots of everything important and still have the chats between us.

I'm pretty sure facebook can't or won't do anything for me. Is there any way I can get justice or protection from this? If it helps he friended me on facebook and his personal information is on there, he also sent me multiple pictures of him for some reason.

I understand this is all my fault and I am just stupid and I have learned my lesson and most likely will never use FB Market again at least from a distance.

If anyone has advice for me please let me know I will greatly appreciate it. I do not mind the money as much as I mind someone being out there scamming people easily on the platform.
Thanks in advance and I am so sorry if I messed up posting this here.

Depending on your location and the specifics it may or may not be a criminal offense

In God we trust, all others pay cash. Never use the shipping option on Facebook. I only meet local, only cash, and always carry a boomstick.

If it was via credit card, you could reverse the charge. Otherwise you're probably stuck. If he's local, you might be able to sue in small claims, but you'd have to know who he actually is to serve him, and it may not be worth the hassle for only $100.

Just ask that the transaction take place in front of a local police station or security guard office at the mall. Of course that limits you to local buyers and sellers only, but all the more reason...

That's what you THINK. In reality, the Russians made you vote against Hillary.

You probably just lost your $100.00. At least get "something" out of it and learn from your mistake so it does not happen again. Of course if this is the new norm, and anything is legal as long as you don't get caught, you could always scam someone else, just like you got scammed, to get your money back.
Its certainly what our kids are being taught.
