I wish tax was included as this brings it up to around $1650. Is that still a good deal?

Maybe I should do a 55" but I mean 65" obviously would look better 10 ft away. Biggest I have now is a 50 plasma

$1650 is a good price as it retails for about $2k.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on this, though was considering an oled as well. Any further expected price drops in the very near future?

The price trend on these samsung Q models will continue to drop until the inventory is gone. The new models 90R, 80R, 70R are already at retailers.

How long does it usually take before the previous year models are cleared out? May? June?

Q8 price cannot be higher than x900f, especially when it doesn't have dolby vision

Can you get the x900f cheaper? I am debating between the two but leaning towards x900f.

Samsung doesn't use Dolby vision, they use HDR10+

Also Samsung TVs run a much better OS then Sony TVs.

I have been watching deals intently for the last several months, and the supply of the older models is drying up, so I purchased the 65 inch Q8 this afternoon and it is already in Fed Ex shipping hands for delivery Monday (to here in AZ.) No tax for me so made the deal more attractive.

I have access to buying the 2019 model Q80R for $2050, but the Q90R reviews are not real great, the wide viewing angle change seems to be reducing the picture quality, so I decided not to spend the extra $560. I needed a TV within the next 2 weeks so could not wait indefinitely to see if some software update comes along or other factor that "revises" the reviews. In the meantime these negative reviews might increase the demand for this year's Q8 and Q9.

My first choice was an OLED, but the deals are drying up on the LG 65 C8, ~$18xx via Newegg re-seller not attractive to me. To me the best chance at reputable LG OLED purchase was earlier this year when 65 C8 was $1800 online and $1930 at Costco including the $99 square trade warranty, I kick myself for not grabbing from Costco at the time. Since then the 3 local Costco's in my area kept the 65 C8 price at ~$2500, and are now out of stock on them, now displaying the 65 C9 for $3449. So the higher prices coupled with the fact that there is some non-trivial risk of OLED burn-in - I finally went for the Q8.

I considered the Sony 900F as well, but has not been available at this lower price, and the Q8 reviews as good or better.

Good luck to those holding out for a better deal, very well may happen but I am out...

I bit on the 65 after waiting for so long on the Vizio PQ. My friend has 75" Q8 and it's very impressive. Thanks!

Is it worth returning a Vizio PQ65 for this, or is it similar enough to not be worth the hassle?

Q8FN is worlds better than the PQ. Worth it to return IMO esp at this price.

This is a decent price. I was hoping the 55" would start popping up on clearance sales by now at sub $1K. Still holding out hope it may still happen before it becomes too late.
