Daily Steal has the Kindle, 6" E Ink Display, Wi-Fi - Includes Special Offers (Graphite) for $24.99 with DSKINDLEcode.

Kindle uses an electronic ink screen that looks and reads like real paper. The matte screen reflects light like ordinary paper and uses no backlighting, so you can read as easily in bright sunlight as in your living room. Unlike tablet screens, Kindle has no glare.

Code:DSKINDLE
Warranty: 90 Day Warranty
This product is Manufacturer Refurbished

Just a Heads Up for you Guys! Smilie

Did you know that Amazon just came out with a BRAND NEW entry level Kindle with backlight the last month! The Paperwhite 4 came out in Nov 2018. Entry level Kindle 2019 vs Kindle Paperwhite 4

Here is a review to entry level kindle 2019. I would NOT get the model in this thread, since the battery is going to be VERY,VERY old, and no backlight, and newer features, and the NEW one is 2019 model. I would wait to get it until it goes on sale, or prime day, or special deal day.

Anyone have any experience using this model for pdfs? I have a Nook which does a decent job. Last time I tried a Kindle it couldn't handle the formatting.

imo The only good old kindles are the ones that offer free 3G of any website up to 50mb per month.

The new kindles with 3G/4G dont offer that sadly. They limit the websites allowed.

However, $25 is like the cost of 1 good book. If you dont read often then this may suffice

Honestly I'd rather spend a little more and look for a used 7th gen Paperwhite (the previous generation) on eBay.

I mean, that's enough for like a thousand books.
I have a few technical manuals that are over 6,000 pages long. I wouldn't be able to fit very many of them on a 2GB reader unfortunately.

I traded in my kindle keyboard 3rd Gen for the new base model with touch and a back light. I am much happier with the new one. I think physical buttons and keyboard are over rated. The light on the new one helps me read a lot more, the store is easier to use and the touch screen is fine.

This was the model I traded in to upgrade. So amazon repackages and sells it back?

Probably not. These might be from another source. The ones we trade in probably get donated to schools or sent to developing countries for scraps.

So I don't know if it's the same thing or not but I just picked up a Kindle 6" (4th gen) off woot for $15 and I had there $10 off $15 coupon so it was $5. They were in stock for a couple of days at least while I was on the fence. Unfortunately they seem to be out now. So lukewarm deal in my opinion the basement price on these seems to be lower.
come/go?

I highly recommend the kindle. Many local libraries have an ebook library you can check books out from. And if you don't connect your kindle to the internet then the book just stays there until you delete the book. If you have the extra money for the paperwhite and the touchscreen doesn't bother you, I'd suggest going for it.

I got my paperwhite in around 2013 for ~80 bucks, really love it. The backlight screen is great and the battery lasts for an insanely long time even after 5+ years of use. I would rather have physical buttons but the touchscreen is really nice when I'm highlighting and looking up the definition for a word. The only time the touchscreen bothers me is when it goes back a page instead of forward or I accidentally tap the screen.
