Even though most of the reviews claimed it sounded the same or better than the 1st generation, I think my 2nd generation sounds way, way worse than my 1st. Just muffled and muddy. It's like they threw in a ton of cheap, thumping bass to overcompensate the lack of bass on the first one. I also kinda think the volume voice control is wonky - if you tell it to lower or raise the volume, it seems to do it in HUGE increments - it'll go from "I can barely hear what's playing" to "HOLY CRAP THAT'S LOUD" with nothing in between.

The physical volume buttons seem to have smaller increments, but since they got rid of the volume dial/ring at the top, you have to feel for the volume buttons which are inexplicably placed on top with two other function buttons (this especially sucks if you have it on the nightstand and are trying to raise/lower the volume in the dark).

I have both and the 2nd Gen has better audio quality in my opinion. I will say that I like bade and it's more bassy so maybe you might think it's not as good if you don't like bass. Also it has an Aux out where the 1st Gen didn't.

I''m waiting until the show gen 2 hits for $100. No rush to add a screen. Do you like yours?

I'm pretty impressed. It's pricey, but kinda useful. We use it to remotely check in on the cat by turning the lights on and calling him. Although after the first time, he stopped falling for it.

The audio is surprisingly good.
