I have zero experience with this juicer, as a matter of fact, I have zero experience with juicing. But the wife has been asking for one and here is a deal on The Wirecutters top pick right before mothers day so it seemed like fate.

According to price tracking sites, it's only been this low a few times over the last years.

Many thanks! I've been waiting for this juicer to go on sale since last year. This is the lowest price ever on this juicer and is the latest model.

At least it helped someone! I thought it might be a little specific for slickdeals, but could hurt.

Bought it right away as soon as you posted. This is one of, if not the best slow juicer on the market and consistently gets the most juice out of produce, right on time for the new season Wink

It's a different type of juicer, well worth the money. This is a slow-juicer, and juices everything, including greens and soft produce - these can't be juiced in a high-speed juicer. Plus it extracts like 95% of juice from produce.

Got it. But why not just break up the greens in a good blender or do people just drink the juice from the greens without anything else? Just curious because that's what I normally end up doing. Throw some fruits and vegetables in a blender that breaks everything down really well. But hey, this could be a deal for the century for all I know when it comes to juicers. Smilie

I was considering the Omega J8006HDS -currently 283 @ Amazon. Given the difference between this vertical juicer and that more traditional Omega model, which one would be more reliable long term? I've looked at some of that discount juice guy's videos on ebay, and the deciding factors remaining for me are reliability of the device & warranty fulfilment of the vendor. Even though the Omega has a 15-yr warranty compared to the 10-yr for the Tribest, it seems that they're somewhat non-responsive or parts aren't usually in stock for weeks, according to some reviews if / when things break. Does anyone have any input comparing the two, or thoughts on why this model would be a more sensible purchase? Thanks.

The Tribest is 47RPM, the Omega 80RPM. Slower means more extraction. Both the Omega and Tribest are solid choices. The Tribest is vertical oriented and saves more space. Since the prices are very similar I would go with the Slowstar.

I believe the idea here is to go for quantity - juicing without the skins/fibers etc allows you to consume more nutrition vs. blending it.

It depends on the blender. Some of the more expensive ones allow you to break the components down more. For example the Vitamix blenders are good for this, but Breville makes some decent ones too.

I have the omega, it has a 15 year warranty and this is just a copycat of the omega. I noticed everything is almost identical to the omega with a few little changes so they don't get sued. That motor this juicer is puny it will now last, the omega has a big heavy duty motor, the omega has some weight to it, because of the heavy duty motor. I have had my omega for about 6 years now, no problems yet.

The two juicers are not at all "almost identical" - one is a vertical juicer, uses a different auger/blade setup, the gears in the motor give it 9HP eq. power, runs at 47RPM vs. 80RPM, and has a shorter warranty 10 vs 15 years. I fail to see how they're close to even resembling one another, let alone being identical as you suggested.
