the Lodge 12" is frequently on sale for ~$4 more. for such a small difference..... (big % difference yes, but small numerical dollar difference for something that you will own for the rest of your life)

i would rather buy the Lodge product and support American jobs. is there anything wrong with this brand? prob not, who knows. is one thicker than the other? i don't know. any pre-seasoning differences are a moot point as you will want to re-season either brand before using it for the first time in my experience

another issue is warranty. should you ever experience an issue with a Lodge product. you email them a photo of the defect, a photo of the imprint on the bottom of the pan, and in 7-12 business days you will have a brand new pan at your door. this brand? according to the warranty page on home depot's site it's 30 days: https://images.homedepot-static.c...030112.pdf , but then on amazon's site it's 10 yrs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016IMV...seekers-20. which is it? Home-Complete is just a re-brander reseller. they don't make anything themselves. i presume this brand's cast iron is made in china, maybe same factory that ozark trail is from?

i know it's hard to pass up a 12" cast iron pan for under $12, i just wanted to share my opinion on the matter

Lodge Tennessee Factory video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oj2qCi-ruoY . as the video states, the factory has employed generations of employees. to me, that's easily worth the little extra for a durable good product so i can support that

quit spreading BS

You can't argue with science...lead melts at 327° F boils away completely at 1,740° F, the melting point of iron is 1,500° F, and the blast furnaces used for smelting are 2,800° F. Any residual traces of lead would be boiled away.

That said. I use my walmart mainstays cast iron pan that I got for $9.88 almost daily, literally. And I love it.

Great price on a 12" This thing will outlast you. Nothing like a well seasoned cast iron pan..

Seems like a decent deal. My local stores didn't have it in stock but ship to store was free. Thanks.

Cast iron is cast iron imo... The only thing I would consider is the aesthetics and dimensions... You def want it to look decent because it will last decades and you want it to have the features most use (pour spout, two handles etc)

Got one ... thanks!

When I got the confirmation email, it showed a cast iron pizza pan I bought a couple weeks ago, at $19.88, for $15.88. I called HD and got a price adjustment. Saved me another $4.

So the generic Home Depot cast iron 12" is on sale for the same price as the everyday price of the generic 12'" Mainstays cast iron pan at Walmart?

no... cast iron is not cast iron - finish, etc. they matter. well, for me they do... my Griswold pans blow the crappy finish of lodge away.
