I have an AMD Vega 56 with a blower. I regret it so much. They are so damn loud. It's worth spending a little more or waiting a little longer for a card with different cooling

2070 is a lot more power efficient than Vega 56

Good deal on that PNY 2070. Even better than the MSI 2070 posted earlier. But there are rumors AMD is coming out with 2070-equivalent for $250.

I know people say Blowers are super loud, but I don't agree. In my experience, it wasn't really that loud if you are going for a silent computer, then no, it won't work. But if you are okay with a computer that makes a bit of noise, it is more than fine. Not everyone has expensive fans that stay whisper quiet and maintain good airflow.

Blowers aren't that loud if the case is pretty solid. I have a 1080 and 980t8 founders, I have them overclocked and the fan curve turned up to keep them cool. They're not overly loud.

That may be but that doesn't mean it will be loud. You would have to compare them but if your worried about noise no matter which side your on a blower isn't the best choice.

There are other factors at play also inluding case, ambient room temps, case temp and so on.

There is a reason 2 and 3 fan cards exist it runs cooler and quieter. My 1080ti even under load of 4k I can hear my CPU fan over that.

They are great for small cases or if your looking to save some money and don't mind that it will be louder under load then a 2 fan model but price also reflects that.If you're already dealing with warm room this might not be the best option.

I would spend the extra on at least dual fan unless space is an issue better cooling and quiter and generally clocked a bit higher. If you do have a cooled room and good air flow then the noise shouldn't be a huge deal so the saving might be worth it.

I also meant to reply to the person you did but by mistake replied to you but decided to leave it instead deleting and reposting.

+1 with my blower gtx1080 turbo asus. A blower is almost always is a bad idea unless you run sli in a limited space.

You can search this username on overclock.net and see that I've been a member there since 2007. I've been building PCs for quiet some time and blowers are generally louder. This card might run great and I've had reference style cards that run pretty good, but my Vega 56 runs terribly without the fan cranked up a good bit. We were comparing mine and a friends new evga 2070 and it's damn near silent even when overclocking. Now for my Vega I flashed the 64 bios and undervolted and it runs great. Out the box it ran like shit though. Lots of throttling due to a bad fan curve out because I guess they wanted to keep the noise down. Now I'm not sensitive to noise, I have 6 Corsair SP120s and the blower fan makes a hell of a lot more noise. I even voided the warranty by trying to reset the heat sink with better thermal paste and that hardly helped. We're all here to save money and this might be a good deal, but I paid $289 for my MSI Vega and less then a month later the sapphire version with amazing cooling is front page at $299. I'm not shitting on this deal, but just pointing out that blower cards aren't for everyone.

I took a serious look at the RTX series but ended up getting a 1080ti for approximately $450 on Ebay instead.

I'm not saying everyone should do the same. However, I couldn't justify paying a lot more for the same performance until the RTX benefits are fully proven and used in future games.

Yeah... that's still damn pricey, especially for a blower. Yes I've had both, yes I've had 480s in SLi with blowers and my god we're they loud; absolute monsters OCd in their day, but to say blowers aren't loud is just silly. they're always louder, it's just the nature of the beast.

My giant Noctua cooler isn't exactly quiet either. Do you have to rework your air flow switching from normal coolers?

To clarify, are you asking if you have to rework it for a blower? Or do you mean if you want a silent case?

For a blower. Doesn't it draw in air from inside the case? I have 2x140 in front and air cpu cooler etc
