Amazon raises the stakes again with Prime one-day shipping....

This will surely screw up Millenials and anybody younger, even more who already have little to no concept of delayed gratification.
Get ready for a Prime price increase....

Your parents or grandparents probably told you the same thing. Damn 20th century kids and your running water, ice machines, electromagnetic magic waves. Back in my day, if we wanted Ice cream you had to live in the north pole or the ice box truck had to deliver a 20lb ice block to your house every weekend. And if we wanted to hear news it took a couple days to hit the papers. And then their grandparents would say if they wanted to hear news it took days to get by word of mouth.

It's called progress. If you don't want it go build a mud hut in a 3rd world country and live there.

Back on topic, it's more likely marketing gimmick. Amazon used to be 2 day delivery, then they slowly turned it into "2 day delivery to your local USPS center which then takes another day or 2 to deliver, but technically we delivered it to our destination in 2 days."
This "1 day shipping" BS will probably be the same thing, meaning more like 2 days.

Most recent reason why everyone should be armed at all times:
Charlotte, NC school shooting. 2 killed 4 wounded. April 2019
This was a gun free zone. The shooter didn't care. Gun free zones only hurt honest citizens. If someone was armed there could've been 1 less death.

Still not enough to convince me to buy into Prime with actual cash. Now maybe if they improve their trade-in program to where it was years ago and allow gift cards to be used to pay for it AND add a whole bunch of stuff to the 'benefits' I might give a shit.

Then again it'd be a waste as I rarely buy from the evil empire of Bezos nowadays.

From my own experiences, he uses and abuses the sites he is a member of. He cares about no one but himself. If there's a deal ANYWHERE, he is the person to buy 100x of whatever it is to resell for profit, and usually get the deal pulled or canceled.

He lives near me. A couple years ago, he bought five copies of a game on clearance at target closest to me. Bragged about it here then soon found out the trade value wasn't worth a 'flip'. When I called him on it for being a scumbag for buying out the stock, he PM'ed me and told me he would now purposely return them to a target far away from me so I can't get a copy for myself.
Whine more, please.

Meanwhile in Seattle... A steady stream of people rush in and out of an Amazon package pick up/return site - even on a Saturday night. It's more convenient and there's no porch pirates. Drones can be intercepted - too many theft and privacy issues.

There's a Sears outlet near me that was selling a popular pillow. While it was a few dollars cheaper on Amazon, I wanted to ensure they were still good quality and weren't fakes. Knockoffs are something Amazon is falling victim to a lot lately. A man in line with me at Macy's echoed the same sentiment for clothes and bedding. We want to see and feel things before buying.

Amazon is flooded with cheaply sewn clothing in Asian sizes and it's a waste of everyone's time and money.

The thing that gets me on Amazon are all the piracy boxes like these 1000+ game boxes (essentially Raspberry Pi boxes with emulators and tons of loaded games). There's so many things listed on there that likely infringe on IP rights and yet it would seem like they turn a blind eye to them. Yet if you tried selling a DVD or Blu-Ray as a third party seller you had to buy it from a distributor and have proof of that. That is unless you're a charity like Goodwill, which has MULTIPLE seller accounts on there selling likely donated media. They get a free pass.

This is bigger, since you're paying for Prime:

Walmart to offer 1-day free shipping, matching Amazon [sun-sentinel.com]

A short time later, Walmart tweeted: "One-day free shipping...without a membership fee. Now THAT would be groundbreaking. Stay tuned." No other information was offered by the Bentonville, Ark., company. Currently, Walmart offers free two-day shipping like Amazon. No membership fee is required.

The last time I checked, WalMart required a $35 minimum order for free 2-day shipping and had a significantly lower inventory along with useless/wrong//missing details on a lot of their third party seller items. Felt like I was looking through the Sears marketplace. Maybe it's gotten better in the last several months.

I've been getting 1-day delivery for a subset of items for some time here in Portland, and even with averaging an order a week or so last year, the only even questionably counterfeit items I've received were Gillette razors. But I also don't tend to get a lot of clothing, peripheral electronics, or other types of items that seem to be plagued by those issues more than others.

I usually still check WalMart, Target, Fry's, REI, and other B&M's for larger items (no sales tax in OR), but for smaller ones, Amazon has been better consistently enough that I rarely check anymore, especially if I'm reordering.

Guess you better get offline and stick to your B&M's then..

Also don't know why you needed to classify a size as "asian", but hey, to each their own form of racism and stereotypes. Dontknow

I think he meant the clothing size numbers are different in Asian countries so you don't get the correct fit when you order.

With me Walmart hardly ever sticks to their 2 day delivery guarantee. I do like ordering from them but Walmart Corp. is full of shiesters. They tend to promise you shit and hope that you either forget about it, when they don't come thru, or make things so difficult to complain and get justice......you just give up. They have ALWAYS been like this. The only thing any of these money grubbing evil corporations understand is when you DON'T do business with them.

Maybe you have been in California too long if you are starting to see racism in something like that. Things labeled in Asian sizes are different than US sizes.
