Becareful with these happy cards. Their magnetic strip will deactivate and will become unreadable. Most of them CANNOT be used online. Cashiers dont know how to ring them up. Non existent customer service. Buy at your own risk

Verdict - pain in the ass to use, stay as far away as possible. Not worth the hasslehoff.

I had that happen with a prepaid Visa card and they just typed in the numbers at the register. Took a few minutes longer but not a big deal. Since Happy gift cards are essentially Visa cards, I'd think it'd be the same thing. The only time a cashier asked about it, I just said it's a Visa and it was fine.

The only annoyance I have with them is that they don't auto drain so I end up buying a gift card with them at my choice of place for the exact amount. Usually use them to buy Panera gift cards when they run the buy $50 get $10 deals.

As far as this deal goes, not a great one for me. Grocery stores offer money off often and it can be combined with a grocery high percentage off credit card.

Happy card is good. It makes homedepot purchase at least 10% off. Have bought and used multiple from kroger chains (fuel + credit card cb > 10%). It can be used for home depot both online and instore by using like a visa credit card. It's true though most brands do not worth it.

I usually used them as Visa Gift card, and never had any problem.
I told the cashier it is a credit card, and swiped it, it worked okay even when it does not have sufficient balance. In that case, I paid the remaining with other cards
I used them online for Panera twice. Input the card number and pin(CVV) in the credit card slot, and it went through.

I just used my $100 Happy Bites card to buy $100 Panera card in store, and get $20 bonus card that may be used in June. So it's $85 for $120 of Panera food.

Any other suggestions on how to piggyback on another offer? I liked the Panera bread option, but that promo ends May 31 and the happycard needs to be mailed to me (approx 5 business day) so I wouldn't receive the happycard in time.

You run them as credit. Not hard to use if you know this.

I tried to redeem a happy card to purchase a 3rd party gift card at a self-service home depot register today. Several attempts, but Invalid Card appeared on the swipe machine each time.

I successfully purchased 3rd party gift cards via this method last week at Home Depot. I checked my Happy Card balance after the problem surfaced and it shows my balance still in place.

Anyone else experiencing recent problems using the Happy Guy card at Home Depot for merchant gift card purchases?

I'm having the same problem at Home Depot. I've tried to use the card twice this week and the first time it completely shut down HD's POS. I just called customer service and they were reading from a script and unhelpful. I'm not sure if it's a Home Depot issue, or if it's another problem. I used the card three days ago with no issue, so not sure why it's all of a sudden a problem.

Has anyone been able to use the card online for homedepot?

Update: I went to a different Home Depot. At the self-checkout register, I experienced the same thing: Invalid Card. After several attempts, including the assistance of the HD checker, the self-service system appeared to completely freeze up/shut down.

The checker kindly took me over to a regular register, where she scanned the 3PGCs and I was able to swipe and pay with my Happy Guy Visa without issue.

Could they have programmed some kind of restriction into the self-service machines, but not their standard checkout registers?

I had zero success at two different Home Depots. Tried multiple registers (flooring, pro desk, regular register) and all gave the same error (no card number). The HD customer service manager tried calling and because the card had been successfully used at HD at the beginning of the week, Happy Card's CS told her to tell us to try it at another HD. My guess is something happened to the magnetic strip between the time we used it a few days ago and when we tried to use it again yesterday and today.

As soon as we left the store, I called Happy Card CS again and explained the situation for a third time (2 calls by me, 1 call by HD CS). They said they couldn't reissue the card with the remaining balance (despite the back of the card saying that they would do that if the card expires). I escalated it to a supervisor and and they are (fingers crossed) sending a refund through the mail.

With Happycard.com purchase, what is the vendor name showing up in the statement? In AMEX offer terms, it says "Exclusion Blackhawk Networks". I connected thru the link in AMEX offer and then the transaction shows as Blackhawk Network. Anyone can confirm?
