Verdict - pain in the ass to use, stay as far away as possible. Not worth the hasslehoff.

The only annoyance I have with them is that they don't auto drain so I end up buying a gift card with them at my choice of place for the exact amount. Usually use them to buy Panera gift cards when they run the buy $50 get $10 deals.
As far as this deal goes, not a great one for me. Grocery stores offer money off often and it can be combined with a grocery high percentage off credit card.
I told the cashier it is a credit card, and swiped it, it worked okay even when it does not have sufficient balance. In that case, I paid the remaining with other cards
I used them online for Panera twice. Input the card number and pin(CVV) in the credit card slot, and it went through.

I successfully purchased 3rd party gift cards via this method last week at Home Depot. I checked my Happy Card balance after the problem surfaced and it shows my balance still in place.
Anyone else experiencing recent problems using the Happy Guy card at Home Depot for merchant gift card purchases?

The checker kindly took me over to a regular register, where she scanned the 3PGCs and I was able to swipe and pay with my Happy Guy Visa without issue.
Could they have programmed some kind of restriction into the self-service machines, but not their standard checkout registers?

As soon as we left the store, I called Happy Card CS again and explained the situation for a third time (2 calls by me, 1 call by HD CS). They said they couldn't reissue the card with the remaining balance (despite the back of the card saying that they would do that if the card expires). I escalated it to a supervisor and and they are (fingers crossed) sending a refund through the mail.
