Not a big fan of knife blocks with vertical slats. Horizontal is better.

Vertical slats can cause knife to jam since the blade will carve into the bottom. It can be reduced by storing knives up side down but it can be dangerous and one has to remember to do it. Also, this one, with steel plate, there is more chance that you hit the blade tip on the plate (may cause the blade tip to chip) and also if you store blade side down, then blade can be ruined by grinding against the plate.

something like this is best, blocks are a bad option for good knives.

The website gives you $5 off with their coupon code. I tried to stack 2 coupons but they allow only one. So I think $5 off is better. Thank OP.

Any recommendations for a higher end knife block? I use several chef knives since my wife and I keep separates. Have less use for all these small slots.

Is it a generic code or unique? Thanks

I've considered this since some people are good at ruining knives (and tons of other stuff really)
