I've never owned a single Apple product, but I'm curious. How does an old-ass Macbook Air stack up against a new or recent Chromebook, in terms of performance? I'd like something fairly compact for travel and toting back and forth between work and home. Main uses would just be web-based stuff and document editing, nothing either shouldn't be able to handle. How light is this 13" Macbook Pro? I mainly use a slim-but-17" msi laptop from 2017, which is fantastic but not especially portable .

How are the screens on these? I know Macbooks in general are known for quality hardware, and good screens in particular, but will such an old one on an Air still look good now? I'm interested both in how they compare to today's screens and whether they degrade over time.

Anybody try Linux on one?

FYI, BUYDIG via Rakuten had 15% off sitewide, grabbed one of the MacBook Air for $255 including taxes. I think this is a decent deal comparable to most newer windows/chrome book around the $200-300 price range.

The screen is not the best but better than most Chromebooks. No need for Linux - macOS is great. I would get the Air!

Hi, I actually bought a few refurbished MacBook Airs about 10 days ago from BuyDig via Rakuten. They were supposed to be Grade A refurbished with 512 GB SSD hard drives. What I got though were two very damaged MacBook Airs that would barely qualify as a refurbished great to see you, and they both had 128 GB hard drives. Also, they had several hundred power cycles, therefore, the battery was towards the middle to end of its life. I have actually bought new Oled tvs in the past from them as well, and while the tvs came in ok, I had some follow-up questions for them, but they pretty much checked out when either myself or my assistant called them. This company is highly suspect, and I will never do business with them again. I am amazed that they get such high reviews after so many poor personal experiences with this company, and I don't know who they are paying to get so much exposure on SD. Just thought I would share and deal w/ this company at your own risk.

4gb of ram kills the deal for future proofing a little longer, I have my 2014 model I got for $250 from a private seller 2, maybe 3 years ago, and it has 8gb of ram. Don't have to worry about memory errors under normal usage anymore.
