I was shopping for weed killer and found this Round up alternative for 75% off.
Price varies by location, but majority of the Lowes locations in my area have it at $3.99.

Check Briskseek before heading out.

Generic Roundup. Local lowes was out of 32oz bottle, but they gave me a single 64oz for $7.98. Makes 42 gallons! Don't forget to add a half teaspoon of Dawn when mixing to increase effectiveness.

Dawn? How's that work, never knew about that.

It acts as a surfactant to help bond the solution to the target plants/weeds, as opposed to wicking off of the microscopic hairs on the surface. It increases effectiveness significantly.

Note: For spraying weeds, it doesn't really matter what kind of dish soap you're using, but if you're ever applying pesticides/good chems for your lawn/plants, make sure you DO NOT use Antibacterial dish soap, as that will kill the plants anyways. It's considered best practice to just not use Antibacterial dish soap regardless of application (on the lawn, at least laugh out loud)

Excellent idea! Dishwashing soap acts as a spreader for your very polar solvent of water: it gives more surface area for contact by reducing water's polarity. Also add ammonia (ammonia fertilizer) if you have hard water. Calcium and magnesium reduce
Glyphosate effectiveness. Also ammonium glysophate is a more powerful weed killer! Double wammy! Put about .1 lb of ammonium sulfate per gallon for hard water (half for softwater).

Last tip: spray before a windy day and boy the next day the weeds take a beating. Just my observation.

Only need a few drops to make it stick. No fo'get to shake well.

Still don't understand why Big Chemical doesn't add the surfactants for us. Maybe it degrades the mix over time? Unknown.

Sigh. This is based on the outcome of a big court case rather than on clinical evidence. Money-grubbing lawyers at work.

It still makes sense to wear adequate PPE whenever applying chemicals.

My comment is a bit of a side track but pls bear with me. Asking because this thread seems to have really knowledgeable people:

We recently sprayed ortho weed b gon bought from lowes on clearance to kill the weeds. It sadly did not do much. We did follow the instructions to the tee. The dandelions were the only ones affected. Rest are still as they were.

We bought spectracide and were thinking of spraying that over the area to see if that helps.

Any ideas? Thanks and reps.

Good deal! Sadly, all full price and out of stock except for one stor in the Nashville, TN area where I live.

However, great tip about adding surfactants to weed killer. I will put that to use this weekend!

Do you have hard water with lots of calcium? Are you trying to kill bermuda or something as difficult?
