The much bigger size and better head make the 5K much sturdier. However it is not as portable because it will fill half your backpack or carry-on luggage. Better DSLRs already have a built-in level or you can add a bubble level for about $4.

The 3K is still very capable for GoPros and mirrorless cameras.
damn this things that big? might as well carry a full blown tripod at that point lol

I have been using this for about eight or nine years now, I still use it as my go to tripod, but yes overtime especially it does not hold close to 11 pounds properly. But the relative portability and ability to wrap around the poles and trees make it worthwhile and the reason why I am still using it after all these years

The 5K was redesigned in 2017 from the older Focus model. While basically the same, it was slightly improved... a little stiffer in the right places, and the legs are more articulable.

Yikes, I have a mirrorless (a7iii) so hopefully it works better. What was the total weight on yours (body + lens)?
I just weighed it on my digital scale right now. It reads 4.12 lbs.

I actually had another camera set up at a different angle that recorded the fall. The legs were ever so slowly sagging that I did not notice any movement until it was too late. I still find the tripod useful though, but like I said, I just don't step away from it.

I don't see free shipping option either. Apparently you have to sign up for VIP360 which is $49.99 in order to "qualify" for free shipping. Otherwise you will have to pay the 7.05 for standard shipping.

You can also use Shoprunner for free shipping if you have it.

I was having the same issue. I even logged into shoprunner but the option wasn't available at first. After a few refresh then it let me select the free 2-day shoprunner shipping. Smilie

Anyone use this with dSLRs outdoors? I used to have the smaller model, which was great for a GoPro, but not so useful with a dSLR, even with a 17-40 f/4L on it. Not a long lens, but felt really saggy for long exposures or it would tip over easily and limit application on non-smooth surfaces.
