This is the Costco-exclusive, feature/performance limited version of R8000P. Smallnetbuilder recommends D-Link DIR-878 or DIR-882 instead.

Just an FYI for people in the market, R7900P, R7960P and R8000P are all marketed as the X6S, pretty much the same with minor differences that most people won't even take advantage of. The R7900P was the original costco exclusive of the R8000P and as we see here been updated to R7960P, still the differences between the two are not significant.

How is this compared to Netgear Nighthawk X4S AC2600 4x4 Dual-Band Gigabit Router which was available for 140$.. I know this is better. But trying to figure out whether it is worth effort of returning X4S and get this instead

Can this be used with Verizon Fios...or Xfinity in case I switch? My Fios contract just expired.

Is this good to get to cover a first floor, 2nd fl, attic and basement ? Deciding between Fios and cablevision. Want to get triple plays for each but those box rental fees are at $10-12 each per month before any fees 😡

This is what I'm doing. I have yet to install the 2600 so I figured might as grab this and use instead.

I thought most review sites have the x4s rated higher than the x6s. The $140 deal was a great slickdeal and rare for it to be that price.
Has anyone had both and can let us know real world results?

Do you have a link for this? I can't find anything to that effect on smallnetbuilder, and the netgear has a much better RAM/CPU combo than those DLinks.

Gotcha; thanks. I'd seen the second one, but it made the netgear look decent (though maybe with a couple minor issues that don't really apply to me). The graphs on the first one are helpful, though. I have a hard time believing that a lower-specced D-Link could outperform it under load, but I'll keep looking.

Bought a month ago and after a week the wireless connection just stopped. Had to reboot to make it work. Rather then risk ongoing issues I returned it. Other Costco reviews mentioned having the same problem. So just beware of faulty units.
