These things are awesome. They're tanks and super comfortable. My favorite headphones for the last 7-8 years.

These are amazing headphones: they sound great (I'm not exactly an audiophile though) and are extremely comfortable.

Beyers sound great but are among the least comfortable, unless you really like the felt speaker cover touching your ears.

Really? I thought comfort was considered one of the biggest strengths of these headphones but I guess YMMV.

the cloth materials are very very soft, but pads are thin and don't conform well and cups are shallow. too much extraneous contact around the ear

How durable is the material? All of the fake leather headsets I get always flake off after a couple of years with no way to replace them.

Slightly bassy, but overall fantastic.

They're my daily use headphones, and I'd buy them again.

I've owned mine now for 7-9 years, and the headband is still soft and has not flaked at all. The ear plush is slightly dirty from the years of use, otherwise they look and sound just as good as the first day I bought them. High quality materials, sound, and insanely comfortable.

Had the same flaking issues with a couple of mine, but I've replaced Sony mdr v6's and audio Technica ath-m50's with amazing results. Grabbed pads for the latter from b&h photo for about 40 bucks that turned them from slightly uncomfortable to incredibly comfortable, and they're in top notch condition 3 years down the road since replacing.

How does the 770 compare to the 990.
