For those looking at this deal, the 3100psi one has a Koehler engine vs Honda engine for the 2800psi.

Honda seems to have a strong following around here.

The kohler is probably chinese kohler the gcv is suppisedly not. Either will outlast the axial pump in residential use but id give the engine vote to the honda

Simpson 3000 psi with Honda GCV160 will be on sale at Sam's Club with free shipping May 9 thru June 2. Costco has a Yamaha PowerStroke 3100 psi model with 14" surface cleaner and turbo nozzle on sale thru 5/12 for about the same price. These are sale prices, but nowhere near the clearance prices Lowes had on TroyBuilts last year. I think I paid about $113 for mine.

It says made in the USA of foreign and domestic components... I don't even know what that means but I'm guessing the engine would be made here.

Simpson does make their products here but they are assembling a motor and pump onto a frame. I could be wrong but i was under the impression that the small residential kohlers like the briggs etc are all chinese, i know the briggs in this price range is and pretty sure the kohler is too. Im surprised that a quick check of the honda shows italy. Id assume thats correct according to honda..

If the Honda engine is made in Italy it could also have mostly Chinese parts in it. To be labelled "Made in Italy", 70% of the production cost has to be from Italian manufacturing. An example of this is the biking industry. A lot of bike frames that are made in Italy are actually made in China but painted in Italy and due to the manufacturing cost difference they can meet the "Made in Italy" requirements.

Just like last time this was posted, don't forget to get the 10% off Lowe's coupon of eBay making them even cheaper.
