FYI: These are designed for Intel

They may work on Ryzen boards, but there are many reviews on Newegg / Amazon where people had problems on Ryzen boards, and manufacturer responses indicated they're designed for Intel.

So be aware they may or may not work for you on AMD boards.

What makes you say it's Intel only?

Customer reviews on Newegg and Amazon, as well as the company's own responses to customers complaining about it not working with Ryzen boards.

Has G. Skill lowered in quality or raised over the years? I haven't bought their Ripjaws brand since I built a computer with them in it in 2011 (DDR3) - one RAM stick failed two years later.

I think you probably send it back to g.skill since they have lifetime warranty to RAMs.

Good counter-experience, although not clear whether it's typical for them to work, given the negative reviews, and G.SKILL's responses that it's designed for Intel and not AMD.

Don't get me wrong, if you're not having any problems with them, then that's awesome.

But in general, it seems like these are sketchy for Ryzen builds, based on reviews.

There are other G.SKILL models that seem to have much better compatibility for Ryzen.

Good deal for Intel though.

You just got a bad part. It happens. It might not have even been defective if it worked fine for 2 years; lots of things can go wrong, like power surges. As far as I know, G. Skill has been and remains a good brand.

These do appear to be designed specifically for Intel's XMP 2.0 spec. The picture on Newegg shows as much on the label. That's perfect for me right now, but probably not what I'd get for an AMD build.

When did RAm start being AMD/Intel specific? Or is this a XMP phenomenon?

More recent BIOS updates to AMD mobos have made many improvements with RAM compatibility. Ryzen 2xxx processors are also better with more types of RAM than older 1xxx processors. So saying "Intel Only" is very misleading, as there are use cases where it may not work properly, but others where it's totally fine.

I've only being using G.Skill since 2009, and never had an issue through 6 or 7 builds.
