I had no idea they made normal watches too, thought it was just scuba. I guess that makes sense though.

I love the brand (and own that handled some rough times in Middle East) and it's a slick looking watch. But it is worth noting that all the watches features eat batteries rather quickly. Not just this brand, but most watches similar to this.

fwiw, if you're in the market for something like this I suggest getting one that's solar powered. Additionally, I recommend the Casio Pathfinder; owned mine for nearly 12 years. I lay it out in the sun once a year. Thing is a trooper.

fwiw!

So explain to me the appeal of Suunto. How does it differentiate itself from Casio army? Or now with the android Wear watches and apple watches, are these relevant? Are they more for extreme temps?

They're like Timex on steroids. Although to be honest, I never knew they made regular, non-GPS/smart watches until just now. They're usually considered one of the elite fitness/outdoor brands (cycling, triathlon, etc)

I've been wearing one of these for about 3 year. Battery life is about a year. Works great and is super durable.

It's a great deal. I bought this brand New Years back and love. Very versatile and sporty watch that's a good value at this price.

Loved my Suunto Core. Upgraded to a Garmin with GPS. Maybe I had poor button cells, but my batteries wouldn't last must longer than 6 or 7 months at a time. Still, many compliments received, and it served me well for 7 years. Suunto has great customer service. I lost my O-ring, and they sent me a new one straight from a Finland!

Have you had to change your band at all? I owned this watch for years and like clock work when the battery would go out (once a year) I would also have to change the band as it would be splitting and come apart. I got tired of doing this after 4 years and stopped wearing it. I will note I wore it daily but never had a band go to crap so consistently. The first two years they replaced under warranty but I had to really work for it

Edit: I absolutely loved the watch and got many compliments too. Just tired of the band issue every year
