The Amazon Blink XT2 camera works with the Amazon (Alexa) Fire TV Cube which for Prime members is $69.99 instead of $119.99.

There is a SD post for the Fire TV cube here:

For humor's sake, you gotta read the first Q & A with comments on the Blink XT2.

Q: Will i be able to converse live with the nsa agents monitoring my devices?
A: Normally Yes but the Chinese Ministry Of State ( they build these devices for resell on Amazon) sometimes will drop the NSA feed and reroute to Federal Protective Service of Russian under an agreement with the Obama administration. Their English is not too good but if you use your Alexa device ( built by the Chinese too) it will translate it perfectly.

"Unlimited" cloud storage is not correct. They give you a small slice and then old ones drop off when the it gets full. Mine only goes back maybe three weeks and then it wraps. Which is plenty, just wanted to clarify the "unlimited" part of it.

Good to know. I would assume for most people that's sufficient. Thanks for clarifying.

Are you happy with the product?

The new one seems to be advertising the same 2-year battery life as the 1st gen. Battery is the reason I held off on the first one as I'd be using them in a semi-high traffic area and from everything I read, you won't get anywhere close to 2-years in an area that has traffic.

Wish they would have somehow improved the battery in Gen 2. I have cameras by my home but my home is about 40 feet from the street so I don't get too much detail from them. I'm looking for something that I can keep closer to the street which would probably mean it has to be battery powered. Blink seems to fit my needs other than the short battery life in busier areas.

High Traffic areas not the best place for battery operated. For my blink system, these areas are recording only when armed at night where there isn't a lot of activity expected or I have them plugged in with Micro USB and no batteries if I want them constantly recording.

Would this go good with a Ring security system, or would one of the Ring cameras be better? Thanks!

My issue is that It's difficult for me to get power by my street. I don't know if there are other good options out there, but I'd be fine with the camera being a bit bigger if it meant longer battery life.

Wouldn't the better deal be the 3-pack as the pricing drops significantly before going back. So you should just get the 3-pack.

So they have these solar panel charger kits yo ucan get for the blink XT cameras, maybe consider that as an option they are average priced $33. This is just the first one I could find I believe there are a few other options too but this was my first search result on amazon for it.

https://www.amazon.com/Blulu-Comp...pons&psc=1

If not you can probably jimmy rig your own enclosure and use another solar panel charging type kit. They did mention that accessories from the first XT kit will not work with this one, but since the panels only really connect through the micro usb I believe these XT2's will still have a micro usb so it should not affect them.

3-pack is an even better deal.

As for me I am still on the fence, no local storage storage option is a big downside to me. Got a NAS with 10TB of storage space so I like to utilize it.
