You can't use an m.2 drive where SATA is required. If it doesn't fit your needs, there's no reason to create a dumb post about it. Just move along.

1- SSD will fit exactly like a 2.5" HDD, plugs and all, but your desktop needs to have a 2.5 inch drive bay. The Dell 790 SFF has one 2.5 bay according to the manual. So, you won't need a bay adapter or plug adapter.
https://downloads.dell.com/manual..._en-us.pdf

(you can even let the SSD dangle in the case, or tape it to the chassis where it's not touching any fans or near anything hot, since it's solid state, it doesn't HAVE to be screwed in solid like an HDD)

2- The BIOS on the 790, set SATA operation is set to AHCI. If you set it to SATA mode, it will lose some functionality. Do this before you install your OS. It won't boot if you change it after the OS install.

3- Dell 790 SFF has only one SATA 3 (6gbps) port, port zero, which is blue, so you need to connect the SSD to that. Otherwise, it will be only SATA 2 and won;t utilize full SSD potential.

4- Get the 240gb, or even 120gb if you are installing a second drive. SSDs have a shorter life span, so make sure your documents are on the 2nd HDD. (2nd HDD can be on the SATA 2 ports, since even fast HDDs barely hit 200mb/sec. You can install all programs on the 2nd drive. A good reason for a larger SSD would be gaming or very demanding apps, which will make a huge difference on your Dell 790. DO NOT defrag the SSD, and make sure defrag schedule is off.

5- No more time consuming to install 2nd drive, just 2 extra plugs and some screws. It will be given letter D: if you plug it to the SATA 1 port. Otherwise, you might have D: as the DVD/CD drive.

6- If you have older PCs you are thinking of using SSD on, see if they have SATA 3 before you try to upgrade. Even though it will go faster than most HDDs, and make a noticable difference, it might not be worth it over short time. Although you can always move that SSD to a newer PC (one with SATA 3) if you come across a deal in the future, or you are savvy on eBay. But then you're adding extra work...which if you have the time doesn't matter.

I'm talking old like Core2Duo or i7/i5 first gen ... 2nd gen i5s etc and after all have SATA 3. If they have USB 2 (SpuerSpeed, they have SATA 3).

If the desktop has a PCI 2.0 port, you can add a PCI SATA 3.0 controller - but that PC should be something worth salvaging, like a dual CPU with 32g (like a server or workstation).

No DRAM in the BX line. I'd look for for a used 850 evo for around the same price.

Fakespot is smoking something.

If you even read the reviews they are most certainly not shill / fake reviews.

Maybe Fakespot just can't distinguish between real glowingly positive overwhelmingly high rate of 5 star reviews and the commonly faked pattern of glowingly positive overwhelmingly high rate of 5 star reviews from shills?

Crucial is Micron. They are a major tech player and not a company that would need to put out fake amazon reviews.

Nice price if you're in a pinch. If you want to make an impulse buy of "damn, that's cheap" read this first:

Wow. 10 cents per gig. This one is close, but as you point out (or the article), 500 GB for 10 cents...very good. Will be time to get one for each machine Smilie

Looks like the bx500 is slower than the bx300, which was already the slow version of the Crucial drives.

For ~$10 more the mx500 is way faster.
