rational consumer (homo economicus) - the economic concept of a perfectly rational and acutely self-interested agent who is capable of optimally pursuing his interests and ends and making rational decisions.

If a $300 hair dryer makes sense to you then buy it. If it doesn't, then spend your $300 on something that does.

My wife has this or maybe the one that has different tips to curl your hair.

Well I thought it was a total waste of money.

But then I found a really good use for it: the dryer is amazing at drying your man parts after taking a shower. I'm serious. I use it every day. Again should market it to dudes for that purpose.

Just got it from Dyson directly. While they don't price match BestBuy, you can request a returning customer discount through chat and that's the same 20%. I gave them a serial number of my 4-year old vacuum to confirm ownership, and everything was fairly easy.

Now let's see if cashback and the discount will end up stacking.
I just did the same. I don't think the cashback will stack with the discount, because the order gets placed through chat, rather than through the website. But, it was a good try.

Wife got one of these through Best Buy and she loves it. She can dry her hair 3 times faster than she used to be able to. It is quiet enough that you can watch TV while drying so we don't have to pause it anymore! It's the small things ...

Travel a lot. Can it be used both 110v and 220v? Thanks.

I love the idea of that, as wet ball hair is the worst and leads to smelly balls syndrome...

I need to check but I remember it doesn't.

Also the cord is stupid. Makes it awful for traveling.

No. It's not a dual voltages. If purchased from the US then it is 110-120 voltage. A converter would be needed if use with 220V, but it is not recommended.
Make sure you ask the Dyson rep for a travel case. They gave me a night stand + travel case for free.

Bitcoins. I recommend buying bitcoins for people who thinks this $300 hair dryer is a waste.

I got one for my wife last year when this deal for $320 from Best Buy came around. She thought it was way overpriced, but I said just give it a try since you use a dryer everyday, if it's good, then it's worth it. Now she absolutely loves it. Her hair is much softer after using this dryer. She also used to spend 15+ minutes drying with an ionic type. Now she's done in about 5 minutes. There is a difference. It uses high pressure air with less heat, so it doesn't damage hair like a normal hair dryer. It's also much quieter.

Wife is super happy. Happy wife, happy life.

No, don't apply science or physics to this, you don't understand, a hair dryer that costs $300+ will dry hair faster, even at equivalent air pressure, temperature, and everything, its science!

How is wet vs dry hair over a certain amount of time a Placebo effect?? It's about as tangible a result as you can easily measure. Nobody's popping a sugar pill and claiming her hair feels dry.
The poster meant "Choice-supportive bias", not placebo effect. Please post the video showing this dryer measures as significantly better in relation to lower priced options. I understand this device is 10x more expensive than your standard dryer, but I won't expect 10x efficiency gains (a Bugatti doesn't achieve 10x the speed of a Corolla). I would like a video showing it is just 2x the efficiency (since it's easily measured).

I was just told in chat that the hair dryer is not currently part of the returning customer discount program.

Thanks. I have V8 and it's 110-220 like laptops or smartphones. Was thinking maybe this is the same.
