She would need to get games which can work offline.
With a system like Tracfone, you have to be very data conscious. The way I do it is I turn my data off, so that apps arent sneaking data in the background. I only turn data on when *I* want to access data.
I do the same. I also will go web surfing I just avoid videos. Some audio files do not take much data. If I do decide to do a video and can not get wifi I lower the Video Quality to as low as possible. There are some web sites that will waste data on ads. I try to avoid them. Or stop any video they decide to play.

Not the best deal I have seen. They do have other phones with 1500 mine for as low as $79.

I will wait for a better deal. Do not need the phone but more minutes.

Thank you! I love these Tracfone bundles that include a year of service. A year of service plus a smallish amount of minutes costs about $100 alone. For me this is like getting a free phone since I would have purchased a year of service anyway.

I got the LG phone for $79.96 [qvc.com].

Tracfone works excellent for students when they don't have to make too many calls.

It is working perfectly fine for my High school going son. Phone with Talk/Text/Data for less than $9 per month. I renew Texts for another 1000 for only $5.
You can check for promo codes too. Here are May's codes from this site [blogspot.com]

A few years ago I bought a Tracfone when their offered their "triple minutes for life" That turned out to be MISLEADING.

I had one other issue with Tracfone, their KNOCK KNOCK security log in feature locked me out, I was on the phone with Tracfone tech support for 3 hours. Good luck allPeace

I bought a Samsung cheap model from HSN with a very similar deal for my grandfather over a year ago and couldn't have been happier. He used the data faster than expected but he really just wanted a cell phone for calls. Somehow someway been at least 1 yr 6 months and still working fine for him.

I agree just use the spare phone and put the time/min/data on your phone ,I use the newest phones with trac ,I have the latest iPhone and Samsung as backup and always use trac ...much cheaper ….I fly on wifi with data useage to limit data …...I really thing that azzhole who said he averages 13gigs with light useage is spouting bs especially with just 2 apps (probably porn sites with hardcore videos and the duufus loses track of time lol) Anyhow I use maybe 2 gigs with regular useage per month and that's not using it lightly ….just say'in

I'm curious, what happens if you go over your data limit on prepaid phones like this. Do they throttle you, or charge you per MB? If they charge you, can you set it not to use data past the limit?

I'm wondering if this phone would be good for my niece. She's at that age where she wants a phone but doesn't really have anyone to call. The minutes would be more than enough i think, but the data is where I'm concerned. She'd be using apps for sure, like video calling stuff and maybe would want some games. I'm not sure how badly those kill data when you don't have access to wifi.
And when you do refill, be sure & search for coupons. They usually change by the month. They usually give you bonus minute/texts/data, rather than a discount.

$10 per additional gig. But, since most of your data will likely be free over wifi. I've had to add a gig or two over the full year for those times when wifi isn't available. I'm using around 120 MB per month, on my 1200 minutes per year plan. Factor it in based on your expected usage. There are promos during the year where you can get a little more data for your $10.

I got the BOGO LG Fiesta 2's with a year, 1200 minutes, in February for $40 each. That was slick. This is darn good, too.

Knock Knock has nothing to do with Tracfone, that's a software feature with LG phones. Triple min for life is still available if you use older phones, just not for new ones.

This plan comes out to ~128MB/month. You better have wifi at home that you're always connected to, or else a couple software updates or app updates happen and all your data is gone.

If anyone gets this as a gift for an older user (targeted audience it seems), make sure to connect it to their home wifi for them and go in the Play Store settings to set app updates to "update over wifi only."
