Nice. And Newegg is an authorized seller whereas Newegg Flash isn't right?

I think that was the big caveat when NE Flash had a sale a week or two ago but Sony didn't consider them an authorized reseller, therefore no warranty.

idk about the seller, there are a lot of reviews stating their items came in super late... but those all seem to be on TV sales. Not sure about this one. I think I'll hold off... I was excited seeing this in the morning but its not looking so good now...

I have no experience with NeweggFlash. Even though it lists that it has the 1-year manufacturer warranty, that isn't necessarily the case and it might not be honored if there is an issue?

That seems to be the consensus from the prior flash thread and from Rakuten threads if the reseller is not authorized. You might have the best luck rolling the PM dice with target or bb

Better to claim it was a gift. No proof of purchase necessary.

If you claim it was a gift, do you get the 1 year warranty benefits? How does that work?

Sony does not honor warranty for any 'refurbished or used' units, even from authorized sellers. Just got done replacing 2 of these and now dealing with the third.

I suggest staying away from Sony products. They are notoriously known for jerking their customers on warranty.

I will never be buying a Sony product after this fiasco.

These products have too many issues, hence the glut supply of their refurbished units. They have not figured out how to solve these issues.

-Popping noise from pressure on either side of the ears.
-Touch control - issues from colder weather (under 65f degrees). Songs stop, pause and skip or volume goes haywire as the cold interferes with the touch control.
-Touch control - issues with rain. (same as temp)
-Issues with software - App issues with equalizer not working unless you reopen app every time.
-Issues with bluetooth - Disconnects randomly and goes in and out. Issues with 2 Devices paired.
-Hot ears / Sweat destroys faux leather.

They cannot fix the touch control issues. They are working as intended. If you ever plan to use these outside, you WILL be dealing with these issues, and they WONT be replacing them outside your seller. See reddit for thousands of these stories.

They are aware of it and pretty much threw in the towel. You WILL be dealing with this issue if you live anywhere that gets below 60 degrees F and if you use them outside.

Press the power button to turn the headphones off, then turn it back on again. You may need to repeat this multiple times until the earcup reaches ambient outside temperature.

Note: This issue occurs only when moving from warm to cold temperature, not when moving from cold to warm.
Their solution is to keep power cycling it until it gets warm enough. After owning three of these, the solution almost never works and it isn't an irregular defect or a couple units being affected. It is a flaw they are aware of and have no solution for. Then add in the bluetooth issues I've had with 2 units as well.

If you like to add a bit of more complexity and suffering to your life, then these headphones are for you!

I talked with Sony customer support center yesterday and they said warranty is covered as long as the item is new and you have a copy of the purchase receipt. Refurbished or open box items are not covered. No authorized reseller is required. Call in to register the headphones when they arrive and you will be ok.

Thank you so much for this. You've basically eliminated these headphones for me, ridiculous that they don't work in cold weather, that's half the year for me.

You would get manufacturer warranty. Also you could take out a square trade extended warranty. Again, call square trade and tell them it was a gift. No receipt required.

I have this same set. Purchased from best buy. Used them all winter in temps down to the 20s with none of the above issues.
