The Yakuza series is a mystery to me. I don't see the appeal.

LOL. Good thing. They all just seem so gimmicky...like errand runners. Then again I'm not really into Assassin's Creed or GTA really either.
I'm not sure if this helps at all, but Yakuza is an action-adventure game where there's an overarching plot and every story mission is about it or leads you to it. The game has side quests that can be done and other interesting activities, the game doesn't take itself seriously outside of the main quest. For a similar-newish game, look at the Spider-Man game, Yakuza isn't open world like that, much smaller scale. You could argue the combat is kinda similar, but the presentation for what you can do and what you have to do are similar.

Ah, nice. Thank you for taking the time to type that out.
I have Spider Man (received as a gift), but I haven't gotten too deep into it on account of the aforementioned errand running stuff. I've only played maybe 20 or 30min so far, but maybe it's time to take another "swing" at it. Wink

Thanks for taking the time out to read it! For me, Spider-Man and Yakuza had very strong stories, and fun quests to complete which is what kept me interested. I have tried the games you mentioned, GTA, Assassin's Creed, and I just couldn't get into them, so I feel you, those games are the reason it took me so long to even get into other games because "open-world" became a bad thing for me.
