SSD is a SATA M2, not NVMe.

Anybody know if this has expandable memory? 1 or 2 DIMM slots or soldered RAM? Can't find info anywhere.

I have a laptop from work and a home gaming desktop. I *might* want a personal laptop for web browsing, and quick spreasheet processing, etc. The specs tick all the right boxes and price is like $600 cheaper than the XPS 13/ X1 pricing. Is there a reason I shouldn't buy this?

I've been out of the laptop loop for a couple of years. Also, last 2 ASUS I had both died of heating issues. Is it still true?

The display isn't IPS and since it doesn't say it's matte, the viewing angles would be very terrible

You already have 2 PCs plus a phone and quite possibly a tablet.

My trusty Surface pro 3 just died on me today. Im looking for a laptop quick and this seems like a decent deal. Is this a good price? I dont do any gaming or video editing. I like the portability and the ssd, however I wish i could find something cheaper

It claims 178 degree viewing angle which is ips level. Also says matte screen in the specs. cant confirm if its ips though.

I bought this a few months back and returned it almost immediately. The touchpad would go non-responsive for a second at a time here and there, more often the longer I used it, which eventually made it darn near unusable. I'd seen reviews for the Asus Zenbooks mentioning touchpad problems but I'd hoped it was an uncommon issue; guess not, as I got bit by it. Then again, others don't seem to have issues, so you're rolling the dice if you go with it. I got a Lenovo 720s instead (for two hundred bucks cheaper even) and I love it.

Oh and yes, the screen is matte.

IPS is such a selling point that they can't avoid it mentioning. I had an Asus couple of years ago and it had pretty terrible viewing angles and display. Hopefully, this one is fine but I would opt for a more main stream brand like Acer, Lenovo, Huawei, Dell for this price tag tbh

Asus is a mainstream brand. The screen varies by model so your asus laptop from a few years doesnt help.
