this deal for $99 more kills this https://slickdeals.net/f/13061305-nikon-d3500-dslr-camera-bundle-w-18-55-vr-70-300-lenses-399-free-s-h?src=rcm_category_h

The 75mm-300mm is not a great lens. Slow autofocus and not that sharp, the newer 55-250mm is much better lens.

unless you already have have canon glass or need the wifi from the T6 to transfer photos to your phone skip this deal

How about opining on why the Nikon is better and worth $100 more?

the glass and age, this camera is older, slower (3fps vs 5fps), and the slower older telephoto kills this deal dead. If it was the better 55-250 is might be okay.

The Nikon beats the canon in everything but wifi

Just an FYI, not only can you transfer photos to phone via wifi but you can also control the camera with your phone and use it as a viewfinder.

You can get brand new for this price time to time at Fry's with promo code. I got this bundle a year ago for 299 but ended up returning it. It felt very cheap with hollow and thin camera body that's bulky. Ended up going with SL2.

Come on now. That's nonsense. I have the T6 and it feels just as solid as any other DSLR I've owned or even held.

specs are somewhat meaningless. it's all about the color, depth and realism. unless someone has used both and can show real comparison shots it's moot.

The D3500 is newer, so will perform identically if not better.

Either camera will do good for most consumers who aren't photographers by trade.

The Canon T6 will have better video AF due to the passive AF capability, the Nikon has better still photo images.

The Canon T6 is not supported by Magic Lantern yet for added 3rd party photo/video features like the older models. Because the sensor is essentially the same across the T series of the same MP, even a years old T series will generally do about the same image quality wise as a newer model. An older T series with magic lantern can provide you will many more features you may desire.

$299 is non-Holiday pricing. Easily another $100 cheaper during holiday sales.

Once you start talking about $400+ cameras, then even the 4K Panasonic G7 etc comes into consideration because neither Canon nor Nikon talked about has 4K video.
...

Lenses at this price range are nowhere near prime lens quality, so don't worry about that. The latter will cost you many more $$. Just stop down to f/8, tripod, and focus well before shooting for sharpest shots.

...

Once you become a pro photographer, then you'll be considering lots of technical points similar to this one over even the mid range D5500.

https://blog.mingthein.com/2015/12/21/review-the-nikon-d5500/

Nonetheless, his image mastery with the top-end Nikons do demonstrate their ability to do work that gets him paid handsomely. (Not to discount the top end Canon's - his reviews will tell you why her went with Nikon over others as a pro. Eg. Autofocus so reliable for fast sports and cars, there's nothing else as a good alternative tp the top end Nikons.)

I would be all over this deal if it is for the T6i.

This is a really good price for the T6 with the zoom lens.

Thinking about getting this - I'm a fan of Cannon's layout etc on most of their DSLRs and I now need to get my own since the place where I work doesn't have one I can borrow any more. Which means I need a pretty good deal. It seems to review pretty well.

If I wasn't already on the Canon infrastructure I'd have gone with the Nikon just because it's got slightly better performance than this and is generally cheaper. It's also worse build quality but you shouldn't be too rough with cameras anyways, lol.

That being said, I'm extremely happy with my T6 as an entry level DSLR

What's included in this bundle? The website doesn't really say.

The camera, a battery for it, charger for the battery, two lenses, and probably a crappy strap that you will never take out of the plastic bag it came in.

This exact kit is what started my slippery slope into photography about 2 years ago, and got some fantastic pictures with it that would have been impossible or not nearly as good with the camera on my phone
