True, but since NOD32 is part of ESET's Internet Security package, what difference does it make? You can choose not to activate/use those additional features of I.S. and run only the anti-virus package if you so choose, essentially "downgrading" the package to the simpler NOD 32 capabilities.

Of course, I doubt it can be used to extend any NOD 32 current subscription, but you never know.

Thanks.. also for the comment that it is ESET Internet Security, since that's exactly what I needed (more than just the NOD32)

You can download the full version from ESET with a free 30 day trial then input the code at the end of the free trial. Gets you a free month. This deal is good for one year on 3 PCs. Love this product as it does not slow down my computers and it works extremely well blocking sneaky malware URLs where advertisements on legit websites try to redirect you automatically. I put this on all my friend and family's machines and they no longer bother me to come clean viruses.

I wish the general public knew how security worked.

While an antivirus suite can help, it's not the solution. Having a proper firewall is a solution, having exploit control is a solution, having network security as a physical firewall is an even better solution but AV will NOT give you very much protection at all.

FREE tools are actually your best option. Coming from someone that majored in IT Security and has passed the industries hardest certifications I can assure you that what's free from Microsoft is far more superior than ESET, Kasperksy or any of these AV's that give people the wrong impression.

Your built in firewall can do EXACTLY the same thing as Kaspersky or ESET's firewalls with their more expensive suites. Antivirus on it's own WILL NOT stop most of today's serious attacks but the one in Windows 10 is more than good enough for you. There's even built in protection against Ransomware built into windows, 100% free that'll automatically backup key files into the cloud.

EMET is another tool that's superior to what any of these AV companies offers, it significantly reduces malware escalation to many applications including your browser and it gets a perfect 10 from IT professionals around the world. 100% Free.

pfSense is not owned by Microsoft but is the worlds best business class firewall that's free to home users. It's extremely robust, made to protect your ENTIRE network from intrusions to begin with but also mitigates malware trying to call home. It has entire country blocking, lists including advertisement you can sub to for free or paid (they have no affiliation to the pfSense peeps), create your own VPN, protect your iOT, etc etc. FREE

People think if it's already installed or it's free, it MUST be inferior. I assure you when it comes to this, it's the other way around! Don't take my word for it, go do the research yourself, ask on Reddit, see that this whole paid for AV thing is becoming a thing and join the 100's of millions worldwide using their systems native security. They aren't the idiots, the ones thinking premium Antivirus software will keep their systems secure are. You do need AV but it's protection is a very small part of the pie for proper security and what comes with Windows 10 is good enough, google it yourself and watch for blogs trying to push you into sales.

FREE, I know, a word this website doesn't like too much because that means you don't have to spend more money year after year.
