Yep. Just smaller size, not strength.

I think I'm going with the $259 5 tool bundle instead although I do kind of want the atomic series. The 5 tool comes with a 4ah battery and that tips the scale for me

Dewalt's 12v lineup stinks, so they're taking aim at Milwaukee's 12v fuel lineup with these compact tools and at the same time leveraging the idea you can use 1 battery on all of the tools. There's a decent chance we might start seeing 12v atomic tools though as several of SBD's other brands are going that direction again. Essentially that would make "Atomic" Dewalts answer to "Fuel". There's a small rear handle saw (probably an answer to dremel's 4"er), a Milwaukee hackzall style sawzall and a oscillating multi-tool coming later this year/early next. These tools may become the entry level for some of the 20v tools, the drill and impact driver are both reasonably capable compared to Dewalts current entry level stuff. Also some of these ktis (and this one based on description) come with Dewalts puny 1.3ah battery with no "fuel gauge" LEDs, so keep that in mind.

Thank you based on reviews it seems these are a decent entry set but nothing to brag about

Dewalt's XR lineup was the first to get brushless but now they're rolling it out across their lineup. I'm not sure they'll even continue to make brushed tools. Frankly the added costs are probably mitigated by them being able to include smaller/cheaper batteries in the kits and if they can use a common control board for the brushless motor switching as well then the manufacturing costs will plummet.
